lyme symptoms

Should I ask for a spinal tap. Oh and have developed tremors in my hands and severe floaters? Could it be a false negative.

Thanks Katebirch I appreciate your information. They did a western blot which was negative. Which blood test did you get to get diagnosed? Is it possible for it yo show up in spinal fluid? I feel like death everyday and can't fathom how doctors say it's nothing. I live in Canada and am not sure if we even have llmd. Thanks so much for your time

You have a long list of symptoms that seem to be very lyme related. I'm sorry you are going through this...

You should try to see a LLMD or LLND. There are several ways of finding a Lyme literate doctor. You can post a new thread on this forum 'Looking for LLMD/LLND in_____'. Members will then give you the information they have through pm (because we are not allowed to post dr's names or information about them on the forum). In order to get this working, you will have to enable your email address (My Profile, Edit Profile, click on 'Show my Emailaddress), so we can contact you.

You can also oo to the ILADS website and post a request for a LLMD in your region:

The existing Lyme tests are not very reliable, a good LLMD will not only diagnose you based on the test results, but will take your clinical symptoms into consideration.
Katebirch is right in saying that Igenex is the better lab to get tested.

about the spinal tap: both my llmd and my neurologist say it is not worth doing the test, unless you are dealing with a very recent infection. I repeatedly read on the forum that this procedure often causes spinal headache, a very painful matter.

I think it is most important for you at this moment to find a LLMD. This can be difficult for you, since you live in Canada, where LLMDs are not supposed to practice, if I am not mistaken. But a LLND can help you as good as a LLMD. Or there is the possibility to travel to the US.
We have several canadian members (Girlie is the one who comes into my mind right now), they will probably be able to help you find a doctor.

It really does sound like Lyme. Get started right away looking for an LLMD. Start a new thread with your location asking for an LLMD in your area.

Lyme can be passed down to the baby. I am so sorry. Hopefully that is not your specific case, but it does happen. Many women even lose the baby because of this! It sounds like your baby is doing ok now, but it is something to consider as he/she develops. We do have parents on this forum who have successfully treated their child. They can be a big help to you!

The first step is to get that IGenex test and a good LLMD. Don't wait! Keep posting when you have questions. We are here to help.

Maybe you could start a new thread about your baby. There are a few members that got babies when being very ill. I hope they will be able to give you some more information.

Goldens - so sorry to hear about you and your baby's health. I'm sorry I am not able to answer all your questions about your baby, but as a Canadian I can tell you we don't have LLMD's here as Mariel said. You would need to find a Lyme Literate Naturopathic Doctor (LLMD) or go to the States to see a LLMD.

Your symptoms indicate could definitely have Lyme and co-infections. The tests are not reliable and there are many reasons as to why a test could come back negative even if you have it. A Lyme diagnosis should be a clinical one.

You need to find a good doctor like everyone is saying. My baby was born when I had Lyme and confections and almost died. He is doing well now, but he has never been tested. I can't find good information either. From what I do understand he has the potential to get very sick at anytime during his life. And our doctor told us that with kids born with lyme, to watch for psychological issues. ADD, dyslexia... things like that are common before actual physical illness.

I was told I might notice him begin to get weak or tired easier than other kids. The other night I woke up to him be awnry in his sleep and I saw that one arm was purple! He somehow cut the circulation all the way off. I could tell it was very asleep feeling.. He has days where he will puke half the day. He gets fevers with no other symptoms. He has days where as a 2 year old he would lay in bed covering his eyes for hours... heartbreaking. You can't imagine the guilt I feel.

The last 6 months have been great. He's had a huge improvement. It's just in time too because I began to fall apart since july.

Main point, trust your instincts. If you think something like Lyme could be there don't hesitate. If you don't and you waste a few hundred dollars to find out that's good news for you anyway. It's so worth it to catch it before it's out of control. I wish someone would have pushed me more to spend those few hundred dollars 6 years ago or so..

If I'm right about that, there are a lot of other parents of children infected with not only Lyme, but other issues as well, that post there. It could be very informative. But again, always check your information when it's found on forums - even ours.
