sicker after Penicillin shot... need advise with herbs

Hello everybody,

My appointment with the Llmd is not until December 29th and I have two questions.
I just had really bad strep throat and I was given a penicillin shot at the ER, even though the strep throat got way better after a day for some odd reason I now feel weaker than before. My throat inside looks fine but my glands around my neck are so swollen it hurts to even move my neck. Also I have such bad muscle pain and and a persistent headache. All this happened about 24 hours after the shot. Could this be related to the lyme?

Is there anything I can take until I have my appointment? I was reading into cats claw and Japanese knotweed. Or do you recommend anything else. I am still waiting to get my blood sent igenex... so I can just assume by all my clinical symptoms and the many tick bites I had that I am dealing with lyme.

Even though my doctor denies it. Still can't understand why she won't send my blood to the lab if she is so sure lyme is non existend.

Hi Sonne,

Welcome to the forum! Glad you have an appointment with an LLMD - December 29th will be here before you know it. The reaction to penicillin could be a herx reaction. Are you familiar with what a herx reaction is?

Basically it is when you are killing the bacteria, your body reacts to that. Detoxing, a healthy diet and herbs are all things that you can do before heading to the LLMD - I did exactly that since I had a good long wait before I could get into see the llmd and I think that it really helped speed up my treatment.

I would check out www.buhnerhealinglyme.com for herbal information. He has also written a few books on lyme that are really helpful too. It can seem a bit intimidating at first but I would recommend it to anyone.

Maybe you are allergic to Penicillin? Doxycyclin may be an alternative for you.

If the pain is a herx reaction, then this may be a blessing in disguise because it shows that you have some sort of infection that Penicillin can get to.

Sounds like you are having a detox reaction. When I veggie juice (greens) It helps me feel better.

about sending blood to igenix...I asked my infectious disease dr. if he can send to igenix ....and he said no, because, it is not FDA approved. I think they are scared to not follow protocols. The politics involved in medicine is ****ed up, beyond belief.
