cappuccinocurls, not all probiotics do the same job. The following probiotics are known to help relieve constipation:
-- Bacillus Laterosporus
-- Bifidobacterium Infantis
-- Bifidobacterium Longum
-- Lactobacillus Casei
The Following probiotic CAUSES constipation as a side effect: Saccharomyces boulardii
Check your probiotics strains and make sure that they include one or more of the probiotics that I mentioned above. If not, then you should search for a brand of probiotics that contains these strains of probiotics.
I do not recommend Florastor to anyone with constipation because its main ingredient is Saccharomyces boulardii, which causes constipation as one of its side effects.
Florastor (yeast based) is one of the best products for controlling various forms of diarrhea, so for those who suffer from the runs, then this is a very good product to use.
Something else that you can benefit from are digestive enzymes. They help your gut digest food so that it flows freely and thus it minimizes constipation.
As Margaret indicated, magnesium is also helpful if the constipation is due to a magnesium deficiency. You can also massage the bottom of your tummy in a clockwise direction. This encourages your muscles to pass the food down the colon and it also feels good. Of course, if the constipation is very bad, prune juice is very effective at making you go to the bathroom.
