Anyone get Advanced Labs Lyme Culture test?

Looks like the most accurate test out there.

If lyme grows from your blood in a petre dish or whatever, you know its positive.

But if it still doesn't grow from someones blood with possibly a deep infection (chronic and / or moved beyond the blood) that doesn't necessarily mean negative, just means it wasn't in that sample of blood.

Anyone test positive on this?

Anyone test neg on this, but still had symptoms of infection and herx on treatments (ABX or herbal)?

I didn't think there really was a definitive test for Lyme. Well, you say it's not quite definitive . . . .

I dont know who runs it. I just looked.

For many (most) people ALL tests are out of pocket. All but titer's, elisa, ect from regular conventional labs.

Yes I have heard of this test because my llmd just ordered it.After my quest lab screw up,she told me that this new test would be used as a blood smear which when mixed with a chemical and placed under special lights would show the bacteria inside the cells and would show which ones were alive or dead.My ins will cover it.

cairn1 - this culture test grows the bacteria from your blood, if its in there in the sample, it takes a while. And they try to grow it for a month or two if no results are found at first. But if its not in that sample, wont find it positive..

You must have a great insurance company, mine covers no testing, but the crummy CDC approved ones. Mine pretty much takes the CDC lyme stance. Its a joke.

Heh Astroman that is not the way it was told to me. LLMD said that with this chemical they use it is a type of dye which lights up our blood to be able to see the cells and what's in side.I am trying to get her to call me so I can ask the name of that chemical

but "culture" in a lab setting means growing something.

They might grow it if they cant see it firsthand.

I know the iSpot test from wisconson they subject the blood to a chemical to see the reaction of your t-cells.

cairn1, yes, I read that in Cure Unknown - it actually goes through several dyes and processes for sharper accuracy.

Yes. I got this test. At 8 weeks it was inconclusive. At 10-12, they grew in all their glory. The lab sends you an image of the little buggers. It is a bit creepy when you see them. But, I have to admit that seeing that image convinced me more than any of the other positive lab tests I've had.

Someone here recently did this test, the extended lab growth option. Must have been one of the last customers?
