Anyone have anything show up in MRI??

I'm just curious...
I had all of these emotional and physical symptoms and was being told that it was all stress and anxiety and "all in my head" for quite some time (2 years) - this past august I finally got my neuro to order an MRI of my brain with and without contrast (they would only do the MRI without contrast in the past)... and an area of inflammation showed up in the post-contrast images in my frontal lobe.

The neuro has no idea what it is or what is causing it and has ruled out a tumor, had me do several blood tests, an x-ray of my chest (to rule out sarcoid) and a spinal tap. Everything comes back clean, "normal".
So he is taking a wait and see approach to it. I get another MRI in 2 months to see if there has been any change (no change in the last follow up MRI in November)....

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this experience or something similar??

Lesions, but before my Lyme dx. The first MRI was normal; the second one showed four (?) lesions, and it's been the same since.

I've been wondering if I have any damage from whatever chaos is going on in my brain. I decided not to look into it until I get further along into treatment in order to preserve a little of my sanity and stay focused. But anxious to hear other's experience.

First MRI: "numerous" lesions
Second MRI: 8-10 new lesions
Third MRI: 1 new lesion and some lesions healing

This all occurred within 1.5 years. I was first dx with MS and a year later I started abx for Lyme (it was my decision to pursue Lyme over MS) after research showed similar treatment for both MS and Lyme, such as LDN and Minocycline. With that said, my lesions kept coming while not treating, but after abx, lesions are starting to heal.

I said this before in another thread; lesions are scary, but most people have lesions their whole lives and never know it. IMO, I wouldn't be to concerned about the lesions themselves, but more concerned about your symptoms. I can say that because I had "numerous" lesions, but they are now healing. Healing is pretty powerful considering most people's lesions never heal or turn to gray matter (dead tissue). Again, this is just my opinion, but I am pretty confident in the decision I made for myself and the results are proving that.

I had an abnormal MRI but my Neuro' s only suggestion was mental health, because they couldn't explain my symptoms. I had inflammation and a benign tumor, which they insisted could not cause any problems. A spinal tap came back clean.

Sometimes it shows inflammation, and if bad, lesions....Mine made me sick...and said 3 lines of how the structure is normal...
My biggest regret is doing the MRI...I did wihtout contrast...and I felt really sick after. My pcp ordered it, but my lyme doc. said the high electro magnetic fields make the lyme spirochettes reproduce. Months later I heard online from dr. klinghardt that the spirochetes feel threatened by electromagnetic fields, so they multiply at a quicker rate. Since my MRI, I became a lot more sensitive to EMFs.

I know you didn't ask for this info...but my advice is to think twice before you do it...and bye the way, the dyes that they use are often radioactive. If you treat the lyme, it will get better. I regret hurting myself to get some data.

When i was initially admitted to hospital, I had an MRI which showed an "area of inflammation" (lesion?) which corresponded with the problems going on in my leg (weakness, which turned to paralysis after being given IV steroids :-( ) . . . Follow-up MRI a couple of months later (when some of the feeling/use of my leg had returned) showed that it had reduced in size slightly. Not sure quite what this means, but I know that lyme can cause lesions in the brain (not that the NHS seem to know that . . . )

I too have brain lesions and have had 3 MRIs. My LLMD says that my spinal fluid was OK and my Lyme test was very positive twice from CDC and Igenex. The LLMD seems sure the lesions are from Lyme so I am going forward with that. I start new therapy soon it will be IV rocephin--so hoping for better days.

And btw, both the neuro and rheum dr I went to did not approve of the test copies I brought along proving Lyme disease. They said maybe it all was fibro or lupus (in remiss.) but both of them seemed stumped with the lyme test copies and how to read them.

These are 'specialists' we are going to for care and trusting them and yet they have very few answers for us. It is beyond words!

I got a contrast/noncontrast MRI in Nov, and it did show some changes that the neuro doc blew off, and my LLMD said, "classic".

T2 strength bright spots distributed among periventricular white matter. I was in a T3 magnet MRI.
Also common, under and in prefrontal cortex, and cerebellum.
I've had noticeable neuropsych aspects to my symptoms for many years.

SpeyFisher--are you having any improvements for your neuro
sx and are you taking oral abx?
