Rocephin/Ceftriaxone does not cross BBB?

So, I was under the impression (read it somewhere? LLMD told me? I made it up?) that Rocephin/Ceftriaxone crosses the blood brain barrier. According to this article, it does only with inflammation from meningitis (due to the inflammation of the capillary blood vessels that form the blood-brain barrier—the meningitis degrades the structural integrity of the vessels and penetration can occur).

I'm very disturbed by this. What are the recent explosion of neuropsycho sx since starting this IV triggered by then?

Agreed. I furiously started looking at other articles—a few also stated it does not cross the BBB effectively. Other sources are ambiguous. And a few just state that it does—doesn't explain how. Very unfortunate that the ALS website is referencing that article—as a lot of other info on that site is very good. And people are going to be turned off from Rocephin.

Still looking for more definitive info.
