Cannabidiol (CBD) Oil

Well I saw my LLMD for the first time last week and he is great! One of the things that he is "prescribing" me, is CBD oil from the hemp plant (note, this is not the same as the cannabis plant that is used for medical marijuana). He actually prescribes it to all of his patients and according to him it is doing wonderful things for his Lyme patients (and he has been treating Lyme disease for 35 years).

The interesting thing is that the hemp plant has virtually zero THC in it, which is the chemical responsible for the "high" from marijuana. The other interesting thing is that since the CBD oil is made from industrial hemp, it is legal to sell to all 50 states without a medical card or anything. It is not in violation of the Controlled Substances Act (the thing that makes "weed" illegal) or illegal in any way shape or form. After talking to my doctor and reading a couple of scientific papers on CBD, it seems to be a wonder drug. It has analgesic properties (pain reducing), anti-anxiety properties, anti-psychotic properties (works equally as well as the leading drug to treat schizophrenia with almost none of the side-effects!), anti-inflammatory properties (boy do we need that!), neuroprotective and anti-oxidant properties, and has even been used to treat cancer among other things (I'm not kidding). Oh and it has been proven to be extremely safe for human consumption. The nice thing too is that you don't have to smoke it to get the medical benefits, you either eat the oil/paste or alternatively there is a non-alcohol tincture made only of the oil from the hemp plant and the concentrated CBD extraction.

I want to make sure that I'm not acting as a fan-boy, because I haven't even tried the CBD only oil yet, so I can't recommend it personally, but the research behind it is frankly breathtaking. I used to smoke cannabis (I hope that's okay to admit) but I had to stop because it would make my psychosis-like symptoms way worse. It would increase depersonalization, increase visual disturbances, increase my anxiety, and so on and so forth. The good news is that cannabidiol has none of those properties and actually helps with almost all of those.

Has anybody tried the CBD only oil yet? There is one website that sells the CBD oil that my doctor recommended that is tested for mold, fungi, pathogens, pesticides (the hemp is grown without any pesticides). It is fairly expensive however. I did find a website at half the cost that is also third-party tested for microbes and quality and I sent the E-mail to my LLMD to see if that would work as well. I don't know if it is appropriate for me to post those sites here but if it is (once again, it is not illegal in any way shape or form and I am not affiliated with either of the websites in any way shape or form), you can send me a message and I can share them with you.

Once again, I haven't actually tried this yet but I have been doing some reading and a couple of people have actually been curing their Lyme disease with this oil, not just masking the symptoms! (but that evidence is just anecdotal). In all three of the threads people seemed to be disappointed about 2 things, the illegality of cannabis oil (not a problem with CBD hemp oil) and the "high" of cannabis oil (not a problem with CBD hemp oil as well).

If you are interested, please make sure to check with your LLMD before starting any new treatments. I will definitely share how my experiences go once I receive the oil and begin using it (I will also be using it in conjunction with antibiotics and more "conventional" Lyme treatments). And once again, I apologize if I sound like a fan-boy but I am just really excited about this seemingly very powerful medicine that could potentially help a lot of people, especially those with Lyme disease.

What brand worked for your grandfather ?

Please do let us know how you do with it - I'm very interested as it could help a lot of people! I'm already aware of the healing potential of it, as I've done some research into it as well. I believe it's a wonderful medicine that too many people have been denied for too long.

I don't see why we can't have posters say what brand they are using. Just don't try to sell it here!! LOL! I think that would cause too much attention.

Was the Black Friday sale a deterrent for you because it made it seem "gimmicky" or something? Either way, that's great to hear that your LLMD went with Bluebird. It is definitely more cost efficient from them. I'm waiting on my E-mail still but I think I'm going to purchase some from Bluebird tomorrow. Would you mind sharing the dosage that you take? I've heard anywhere from 1mg-50mg a day (and even higher). It seems like 10mg-30mg a day might be a good sweet spot? I've also heard that less can sometimes be more with this oil too. Not a lot of good information out there on the dosage (but at least there aren't really any negative symptoms from dosing too much from what I understand).

The dosing is the part that seemed to be the grey area while researching. I have the 250mg bottle. I started just shy of 4 weeks ago at 1 drop 2x/day and was directed to work up slowly to 15 drops, 2x/day by my LLMD. I increased the dosage every 4th day and am currently at 9 drops 2x/day. The label reads that the serving size is 15 drops and that there are 60 servings in the bottle. So at this point, I have yet to finish the bottle and it is truthfully very hard to say what is left in it. And at the full recommended dosage by my LLMD, at 15 drops 2x/day, the 250mg bottle would last one month. (I hope my Lyme brain is commuting correctly!)

I see my LLMD in 2 days and will see if he is happy with the bit of progress I am making. I am glad to see that others here are trying it as well. It will be nice to compare notes.

I emailed Bluebird Botanicals yesterday to ask which CBD oil they would recommend for someone with lyme disease. Just heard back from them this morning and they said the customer feedback that they receive from people with lyme is that their "Bulletproof Blend" is the one that most lymies prefer.

HI Bryguy, so the reason your symptoms increased when you smoked MJ is because it makes you herx. Yes, that is what happened to me. This means that it is killing the bacteria. I have been researching this and people are getting well and curing lyme disease with MJ. I know, crazy right. There are a few facebook pages out there regarding cannabus oil and curing lyme disease. Very interesting.

Trav, I know is not the same thing, I just needed a good laugh. The link that you provided doesn't have any reviews for the seller, so I don't know, maybe it's Ok, maybe not. I bought coconut oil from nutiva and I loved it, it is very good. I bought it from 3 different jars and nutiva is by far the best. The link I sent was with a oil made by nutiva. But I don't think I am sold on hemp oil, yet. It's a different plant alltogether.

Coconut oil helped my son with mental clarity. I found it actually to be amazing in his worse days of (probably?) herxing. At the begining he didn't want it, but then, when he would feel extremely sick, he was actually asking me to give him some and within minutes, he would feel better. He calls it the mirracle oil.

I did a lot of research and i started to use coconut oil soon after he started to have seizures because epileptics were talking about it; searched it a lot with the medical community and it is a consumable product, organic, so I felt comfortable to use it for him. Not sure if I want to use a product that comes from an industrial plant, as it is not consumable by humans like coconut oil has been for thousands of years. I guess it would be great if they would just legalize medical marihuana. Not looking to get high anyway, just to stay healthy.

Trav, I don't remember if I read about the hemp oil preventing seizures, I've read so much, I can't remember. I was talking about the cbd coming from the real marijuana plant. The documentary is actually not about hemp oil from the hemp plant, it is about the REAL thing, it is a type of marihuana that is specially grown for that girl, high in cbd and low in the stuff that makes you high. It has been specially breeded for her by a company that grows medical marijuana. She lives in a state where medical marijuana is permitted, so it works for her. I think that if the hemp oil would have the same benefits, the mother would have used it. It sounds like that plant is very expensive and the company is gracious enough to just charge them what they can afford because they want to help the kid. I am not putting down the hemp plant, but I think at least in my case, I should use a lot of caution because it involves a 10 yr old. It is probably fine, but I am just cautious. Also, if the concentration is not high in CBD, I can't see how it can benefit the same way or without drinking lots of it, and who can tolerate large quantities of oil? probably the most expensive stuff is better, more concentrated. I am sold on CBD and I believe it can cure just about anything, but I am just not sure it is all the same, I think it still depends where you extract the CBD from and what concentration you take. Also, the marijuana plant has probably additional properties good for our health; I don't know.
