Missed my AM dose... How bad is this?

So, for those of you that haven't seen any of my other posts, I started my first round of antibiotics for Lyme on January 2, 2015. I am taking Clarithromycin and Cefuroxine daily, twice a day and pulse with Tinidazole two days a week, twice a day. They are all oral.
I hope I'm right in assuming there isn't much that can be TMI on here. All day yesterday I was having diarrhea. Anything I ate went straight through me. Last night around midnight, out of nowhere, I started feeling 100% awful and was up the entire night vomiting and have diarrhea, which continued into most of the day today. I haven't throw up since 330 this afternoon, but still having diarrhea.

BUT the main problem is that in the midst of all this, there was no way I could have taken, and kept down, my AM dose of meds. This is the first dose that I've missed since starting treatment and I need you guys to tell me honestly how bad it is that I missed this dose. Don't hold back. Anything that I should do besides just letting my doctor know?

Gut feeling only, no pun intended. Before you take the next dose of the meds, i think it is important for your gut and stomach to get better. I would advise not taking the meds till you have stopped both vomiting and diarrhea. And i would not feel guilty about not taking the meds. xfmlg

One of the good things about being on long-term antibiotics is that missing one dose is not a big deal at all. And sometimes, as in your case, it is entirely unavoidable!

Just take your ordinary next dose at the usual time and carry on. Don't double up your doses. You'll be fine.

My LLMD has recommended Slippery Elm for tummy trouble related to antibiotics. I've had to take it the past few days and it's really helping. Just be sure to take it either 2 hours before or after all other meds. I purchased mine from Amazon. Feel better!!!

You are very right, very little is "off limits" here!! LOL! Lyme affects all parts of our bodies and we need to be able to ask questions and talk about it all - some areas do need to have a little more tact than others is all!! :-)

If you are still throwing up - you have to call your LLMD. If you can't keep the meds down, or anything else, there is no way you are going to heal.

Have you been eating just before you take your meds? Remember we are on incredibly high doses for long periods of time. It only makes sense that they will damage our stomach sometimes and by eating it usually only slows down the absorption rate, yet saves our stomachs.

As has been said, do NOT double up on any doses, and take the next dose you can.

If the diarrhea continues, you need to tell your LLMD about that as well.

Please do let us know if you are still dealing with these things or if they have let up any!!

Sorry to hear your sick, hope it passes quickly. My LLMD had me off ANX on the weekends, so I pulsed them. I see no problem but I would be contacting him if the symptoms don't subside.

I don't think missing a dose here and there is a big deal. Since the beginning of my treatment, when I herx, or just feel "toxic", I reduce or go off my antibiotics for a couple days. I have discussed this with my LLND, and he says it's no big deal.
Also, a lot of LL Docs are doing pulsing protocols...where it is planned to take days off in the week.

It's really important to get your diarrhea in check.

BTW - I am also on Ceftin and Biaxin - and my Dr. has given me a prescrtiption for Tinidazole twice a week. We're on identical protocols.

Oh - what are your dosages of the three meds? (sorry - off topic)

Thanks guys! I e-mailed my Dr this am and she is usually really good about responding the same day, even weekends. So, hopefully I will hear back from her soon.
The vomiting has stopped, I haven't thrown up since 330pm yesterday and my diarrhea has slowed down significantly and isn't as loose. So, things are starting to slow down and normalize in that aspect, but over all just feel awful. I'm thinking maybe it's the first time I'm experiencing my Lyme die off cycle, for lack of better words.

Daisy- I will definitely try some Slippery Elm. I have been using activated charcoal every once in awhile, but it doesn't always work. So, I definitely need to find something that does. Nausea/vomiting/diarrhea are my least favorite side effects!

Traveler- I try to eat a little bit, take my meds, and then finish what I'm eating. I can't remember who recommended trying that on here, but it helps some of the time, which is better than none of the time!

Girlie- I'm glad to hear somebody is on the same regimen as I am!! How is yours going? Is this your first round on this regimen? I'm taking Biaxin 500mg, Ceftin 500mg and Tinidazole 500mg. What about you?

Also, what have you guys found is the best way to get some nutrients in when you can't seem to keep anything down? I had some gatorade, but I know that is full of sugar. At work I always tell my pts to try something like Boost or Ensure, but wanted to see if you guys have found anything that is good and not sure off weird extras and sugar.

kkarcher - I am on 500 mg of biaxin and 500 mg Ceftin. I haven't started the Tinidazole yet. I need to go to the compounding Pharmacy and pick it up. Here in Canada, it's not readily available...so the Pharmacist has to compound it.

I have been treating since July, with different antibiotics. I started Biaxin the end of September, and added Ceftin the end of November.
My Dr. feels that my progress is slow because of cyst form of Lyme. That is why I'm adding the Tinidazole to the other two.
I am to take the tini two days a week - any two days of the week I want...and it can change each week.

Girlie- Let me know how you feel when you start taking the Tini. I seem to feel much worse on those days and the couple following. My dr has me taking it twice a day, 2 consecutive days of the week. Hope the Tini helps you :))

Oops - I forgot to say I aking 500mg of each twice daily.

Havent got might Tini yet - so not sure yet what the dose is.
