It's mostly up to personal preference, really. It's like asking the best way to make a salad; what do you have, what do you like?
Most important thing is to start slowly, i.e. just stay in the bath short while at first. Work up to a 30 minute sit. Introduce new additives one at a time so you know what gives you a bad reaction, if it does.
Peroxide is safe to use -- it is the type found in the first aid section of the drug store (not the type used to bleach hair).
If you are worried you will have a bad reaction, you could try foot soaks instead, they are very effective.
I think you will find the baths very relaxing and restorative. Enjoy!
