Need direction--IV treatment

See if your Dr will approve IM Rocephin instead. There have been studies done comparing IM vs IV rocephin effectiveness and they are pretty close. Do a google search and read some articles.

Also there are ways to greatly reduce the cost of IV Rocephin. Some folks actually get a script for IM Rocephin and mix their own IV. Read the booklet "Infusion for Lymies" for more information. Getting supplies varies state by state.

Also there are a handful of states where they have laws that require insurance companies to cover Lyme related Rx as long as the Dr precribes. Maybe change an address to work the system.

Thanks so much for the information. I will write an appeal letter to my insurance company and then the State Attorney General.

I will include a copy of the decision by the Connecticut Atty General
concluding that insurers are baseing coverage on flawed guidelines.

I will keep you updated.

Is IM rocephin an injection in place of IV? I was also denied a second picc line. I took oral cephin after the picc line but it didn't have any affect on me. I felt good on the IV. Trying to get in to see an LLMD. Not on any meds now since I was denied the picc line.
