Was just wondering if anyone had any good experiences at The Hansa center? I just started amox a few weeks ago but I'm newly pregnant with my third child and so hesitant to be on a series of abx throughout the entire pregnancy. I really like Hansas non prescript approach but it is costly so I want to be sure it is a wise investment before I commit.
Any good/bad feedback?

A forum member - CarlG is there now and so far is happy with his experience there.

Even if it is non abx treatment I would be cautious about it during pregnancy. Natural treatments can also be harmful when pregnant.

Have you connected with the Hansa Centre and asked them about their treatments during pregnancy?


Also, another forum member Heather's Dad took his daughter to Hansa and they successfully treated her. Do a search and you can read about their journey - its amazing.

Girlie, thanks for the help! Unfortunately I am too symptomatic to go without any kind of treatment for the next nine months. For myself, the two little ones I already have, and of course for the baby I'm having. I spoke with them and they said that they do treat pregnant women and I feel that natural is going to have to be the way to go over nothing at all. I so wish I was one of those pregnant women whose symptoms disappeared during pregnancy!

I was on amox during pregnancy. My daughter was born perfectly fine. She is very smart and she is 5 now. She has Lyme but that's because she was bit last year--I pulled a v large tick out. I believe treatment should follow through pregnancy or you risk for her to be infected in the womb which can dramatically reduce her chances of being born healthy. So even in the absence of symptoms during pregnancy, I was treated and I am glad I was.

Simela, were you only on amox during pregnancy or other abx as well? 3000 mg? Also, how did your ob handle it- did you get any pushback?

Yes, Amox only, nothing else.  NO, not 3000mg, it was low dose and it was I think 1 week on 1 week off.  It was the only time doc gave me "breaks".  He said it won't cure anything, but it will keep bacteria in check.  So after I was on 3 different abx to very high doses, he put me only on amox on low dose and not every day.  My daughter is verry smart and very sweet and patient, the best kid I have!  So no neuro problems and 100% healthy until she got bit, which is really unfortunate, but it is what it is.

Heather (HeathersDad) has/had significant recovery with Dr Jernigen at Hansa, and Deejavu with Jernigen's protocols alone (she did not go to the center) from the book Healing Lyme.

NO pushback from the OB. They are sooooo busy their, it's so much pressure on them, their boss tripple books them and they are overwhelmed. They just wrote it down and that was that. The nurse at the hospital was sort of shocked that I came with abx with me, but she got over it. I never had to tell them who prescribed or anything more than that I am on it. So it worked out well.

Simela1, thank you for this info! I literally found out I was pregnant right after my LLMD diagnosed me which is he reason for the high does of amox I think. She was talking about adding in mepron and zithro for Bart in a month and I was like I don't think so! That is way too much during pregnancy!

Here's the thing,
There are two people who think hansa is a godsend,
others have had dubious results
It's a crapshoot.
I wouldn't chance it if I were pregnant,

CarlG is at a different clinic, not hansa,

Anyone know which clinic CarlG is at? I also called Sponaugle and they are crazy expensive! Not to mention say that it takes a mon of 9 weeks there to improve!!!
Would love any feedback on clinics that are very reputable!
I know different things work for different people- my body is SO sensitive that I'm hoping I'll be able to respond to natural meds alone. I strongly believe I got infected in July of 2014 which is why I need to start therapy asap before these symptoms get even worse.

Some of these clinics have home protocols you can do, which would cost less, but you'd miss out on some of the special testing that Hansa does.

There is no quick fix, so patience is needed.

I agree, there are no guarantees. I believe these places with help, but they are NOT a cure and they are not one size fits all.

Pm: That would be too many abx! You can try some antibacterial plants that are safe through pregnancy. Everything comes with a risk, including abx. Mental health is just as important, so try to stay relaxed and calm and you will be ok. It is hard, I know, I've been there, and I had to deal with pain from a car accident too, for which I could not take meds being pregnant. It was horrible but I made it and so will you :)

Yes, I took my daughter to the Hansa Center for 2 weeks in march, 2010. She is doing very well other than a mold issue this past fall, which she is being treated for. She is a highly ranked NCAA Division 1 swimmer, and "feels great" in her words! Yes, it is expensive, but not so much as some of the other clinics of which I am aware. We still spent more from expenses prior to taking her to the Hansa Center than we did at the Hansa Center. Cynics will disagree, but we are glad that we spent the money. Considering that she was a skeleton, in terrible pain, and could not walk, I would say that she has come a long way.

One poster referred to a "crapshoot". I beg to differ. Perhaps that poster would like to go back through all the archives and give a report on the favorable to unfavorable experience ratio of those who have gone to the clinic, and reported back to us during the last 7 years. Hint, hint.... I found an approximate 3 to 1 ratio of favorable to unfavorable testimonys from those who actually went to the Hansa Center. I find that this ratio also correlates to the experience of people that I personally know that have gone there.

I can certainly appreciate the concern of not harming your pre-born. From my perspective, I don't think that there need be any concern in that regard. That "do no harm" approach is part of what they are all about. However, I strongly regret putting my daughter through 14 months of hell with her 2 LLMD's prior to taking her to the Hansa Center.

Yes, Kate Birch has just completed 2 weeks of treatment at the Hansa Center and is now home. She kindly kept me updated with progress reports. I don't feel that I have a right to report on her experience, so no comment. I will say that I am anxious for her to share her experience on this forum when she is ready! Perhaps you may desire to correspond privately with her, since she has been there so recently.

As has been stated by a wise Mod, there is no quick fix!

Pmgonza- I wish you the best in whaever you decide to do for you and your pre-born!!!
