Activated charcoal or just detox suggestions?

I had my LLMD followup today, which went okay. I wasn't feeling great and my doc has a head cold, so neither one of us was were in top condition. I asked her about more detox methods and I asked about different things I've read here on the forum, like bentonite clay and activated charcoal. She explained the difference between the ones that help detox and the binders.

I just wanted to know if there were certain brands or products anyone could recommend. I know there has been a lot of news stories lately with certain brands not containing what their suppose to. So if anyone has any that they have had success with, please share.

I'm thinking the activated charcoal is a good place to start with a binder. I do also take milk thistle , do mustard foot/epsom salt foot baths and body brushing. Grateful for any and all suggestions.

I drink Living Clay co calcium bentonite clay every day. I have taken Bio Botanical Research GI Detox and I think it helped so once I talk to my doctor about how much to take I am going to start that up again. But I think I might take it just once a week or maybe even every other week because I read charcoal can cause bad intestine problems so you aren't supposed to take it too often but I can't figure out how often is too often.

I also do clay foot baths. I have no idea how much clay should be used but right now I do 1/4 cup but that might not be enough, I really don't know. I used to do full baths but it got too hard because of my neck pain. I did 1 cup of clay in a bath. I mixed the clay in some water in a paste consistency and rubbed it all over me then got in the tub. If clay was cheaper I probably would have tried 2 cups of clay.

Roasted dandelion root tea is supposed to help detox, too. I am going to try it in the next couple weeks I think. I will be drinking Traditional Medicinals brand.

I think massages and lymph drainage massages are supposed to detox. I used to get just regular massages and it definitely helped. I think massages release toxins built up in your muscles so I think it does detox you in a way.

Sayyadina, you do realize that the activated charcoal is likely mainly binding to the vitamin C and not the toxins that are already in your body when you do it that way, right? You are getting very little benefit from taking the activated charcoal when you take the vitamin C that close to it.

I never took more than 1 capsule of 260 mgs of activated charcoal due to the constipation that it creates even when I drink 96 ounces of water a day - so be aware.

Cheetahjade - what about oil pulling? I use a high quality coconut oil and still do oil pulling daily.

Is there a reason that you are only doing the foot baths? I couldn't tolerate the detoxing that happened with a full bath, so I had to stick to foot baths only, but if you can tolerate the full body baths, I would encourage you to start adding in those as well - slowly and carefully of course!

Drinking lemon water actually helps as well, as it helps to push the body over to a slightly alkaline state, instead of the slightly acidic state that the bacteria and viruses prefer.

Good to know that you have researched this all, Sayyadina!! I'd be so constipated from that much charcoal, well we won't go there!! LOL!


Cheetahjade, you should try oil pulling, it really helps me! And the activated charcoal is another very helpful tool.

You can increase to two foot baths a day.

And please start drinking lemon water again!!

Wow that sounds like you got your detox regimen down. Do have your own IR sauna and if so what kind?

Thanks Traveler! I do a few foot baths a day. Sometimes it depends on the day, but I can usually get at least two or three in. I just received my activated charcoal today. I plan on making some chicken stew, take some vitamins and cold medicine (can't believe I caught another one) and later try the activated charcoal. i know I have to take it away form my other meds.

I bought a brand called Charcoal House. Its suppose to be made out of coconut shell charcoal. Does it matter the type of charcoal as long as its food grade?

Cheetahjade - I would say the ones made from either nut shells or coconut shells would be one of the better ones to use - but it's just my own guess.
