LLMD says I have babesia....

My LLMD started me on mepron today. After a week, she will add Zithromax. She said the Zithromax will also treat my chlymadia and mycoplasma.

Hopefully I'm on the right path.

The German lab said that I am positive for 2 different strains of Lyme. When does this madness end??

I'm glad she decided you have babesia. I think that is the right choice.

Me too. I am so relieved. I really feel in my gut that I have it even though I tested negative and I don't have all the classic symptoms. Thankfully she was willing to give me a trial of Zithromax and mepron. I started mepron today and will add Zithromax next week.

I hope the herxes aren't too bad!

I agree on the babs diagnosis based on you other posts. Did she say you have Bart as well?

No mention of Bart. But, I can tell you that I did herx on rifampin.

My LLMD seems to only like to discuss/tackle one issue at a time. When I asked her about heavy metals, parasites, mold, viruses...... She said, "let's just worry about babesia for now".

Although she did say that the Zithromax would also help my chlamydia and mycoplasma. So that's good at least.

Interesting...you herxed on rifampin and you have had the panic attacks/anxiety. I would be shocked if you didn't have it. I totally get addressing each at once, but don't understand the harm in at least discussing it.

My LLMD thinks I have both and provided a 6 step plan, babs being step #2 and the sixth step is rifampin for Bart. Which confuses me because I thought I had read that Bart needs to be addressed before lyme? Is that true or did I dream that up somehow?

I'm sorry you have to add another co-infection to your list of woes Utahgal, but I do believe there is a strong possibility you have Babesia (and possibly Bart).

Good luck with the new treatment regimen! I hope you see more progress!

I guess anxiety and weakness are both babesia symptoms.

Plus ever since I took rifampin 2 months ago, I have been having horrid night sweats. Even though I went off rifampin 3 weeks ago, I still soak my shirts at night. Yuck!

I also occasionally feel like I can't catch my breath. But this only happens in the evening when I lay on the sofa with my hubby to watch tv. I often have to sit up and catch my breath. Very strange.

Our daughter tested negative for babesia, but it is babesia treatment that has gotten her through the remaining 20% of symptoms.

rowingmom- Your daughter did abx for bartonella (then switched to herbs), but solely herbs for babesia? Just looking at what you've got in your signature - am I correct that she didn't do the anti-malarials (mepron/malarone)?

BTW - how is she doing these days?

Sorry to hear this Utalgal but hopefully now you can get rid of those nasty symptoms.

I must have Bart, herxing big time on Rifampin and Zithromax but the hot flash and then cold chills not as bad. As I say that, lol, I start a hot flash. But have heating pad on my back.

Remember, babesia is a protozoan that we have identified and know about. There are many others that we haven't identified. Mepron may or may not completely eradicate them.

Everybody has different ideas on this. There's not one way to do it.

This may your 'missing link' UtahG! They say you simply CANNOT heal from lyme unless babesia is eradicated if one has it...

The madness WILL end...hang in there~~
