I take doxycycline with some gluten free bread I make myself from oat flour but it isn't easy to make and I'm trying to avoid grains as much as I can. So I'm trying to think of some snack I can make that doesn't have any magnesium or calcium so it won't affect the absorption of the antibiotic but will help my stomach when I take it. Any one have ideas or something that works for them? Just something I can have already made when I need to take the antibiotic.

I found hard-boiled eggs to be easy. I've read that they have only 5 mg of magnesium, which is considered low, and the body needs 300-400 of mag per day.

Last week I made some Ancient Harvest brand Quinoa cereal flakes drizzled with organic olive oil.
Quick, simple, and easy on the antibiotic ravaged stomach. Great re-heated.
I like Quinoa but had never tried it like this. A good experiment!

Eggs always give me a stomach ache so I don't eat them. I just don't know what's best with this antibiotic. I'm concerned that because I take it with a little food it may not absorb well and I may become resistant to it. I get mixed advice. Some say it only matters if it is something with iron magnesium or calcium and others say it's best on an empty stomach but can be taken with food if you get a stomach ache. I feel nauseous when I take it on an empty stomach but I can, it isn't comfortable but if it makes it more effective them I could probably stand it but others have said to take it with food otherwise it will tear your stomach up. I just want it to be the most effective and prefer to avoid the stomach ache but in the end I want to do what is most effective.

I actually have those flakes and quinoa in small amounts may be okay, I'm wondering maybe if there is a good vegetable to take it with.

the hard boiled eggs. I made some last week and a few times in a rush I ate them cold out of the fridge. Afterwards it felt like I'd eaten a rock.
But I'm fine with a small fritatta. Maybe it's a Doxy sensitivity thing.
For veggies I've been opting for ease of preparation because I'm tired and my hands hurt.
Pre-washed and cut greens and a few white beans in chicken broth.
Romaine salads.
Oven roasted veggies (whatever is on hand) sprayed with olive oil and sea salt, cooked on a disposable foil tray.
Before The Big Lyme I grew my own fruits and veggies year round and canned or froze a lot too.
Now I'm at the mercy of the local store's selection.
Good luck with the Doxy. I'm on it too, probably for the long haul.
