Hey all ...
with us all engaging in therapies that are unorthodox according to the medical community, have you told your regular doctor. For example do I tell mom's neurologist about
lyme and pk protocol, seeing the llmd's or do we keep it to ourselves?

I think it depends on whether they are 'on board' or not.
My PCP knows I am on long-term antibiotics, and being treated with a LLND.
When I got my Igenex positive test result, I showed it to her. She asked for a copy of it, and then said, "So, what do you want to do."
She is supportive, acknowledges that we aren't diagnosing and treating Lyme disease effectively here in Canada. She also gave me a standing order for lab tests to monitor my kidney and liver function.
If she wasn't supportive, I would hesitate in telling her too much.
You could tell your mom's neurologist that you're mom is getting treatment for lyme...but I don't think I would provide the details UNLESS the neurologist was receptive.

I say unless they are completely "Lyme friendly" and very supportive, no - don't tell them anything until it's all over with. There is no reason for you to fight with them too.

thanks guys. I probably won't for now then. Meanwhile, it's been a very stressful and emotional day for me, dealing with social workers, new doctors for my mom. I need a bit of a break

We'll be here when you need us to be!!
I hope that you get the time you need to destress and relax! You need to watch your own health too!

My family doc actually dropped me when I told them. I would hope this isnt the norm, but I suppose its best to brace yourself and weigh your options should you ever decide to fill your other doctors in.
