I'm so very sorry that you too are part of this whacky Lyme world.
Band 23 is Lyme specific - it indicates Borrelia Burgdorferi - the "strictest" meaning of Lyme disease - and it only includes one strain. That's what I mean when I say Lyme specific.
Bands 83 & 93 are also Lyme specific.
But the Western Blot is set up to detect mainly Borrelia Burgdorferi, not the other strains of the "Lyme complex", so testing positive on it generally means that you have that one strain - but it doesn't mean that you don't have any other strains of this infection, you could have more than one. As a matter of fact, researchers are now beginning to believe that most people have more than one strain anyway.
What you can do is tell her that it's never a guarantee that she passed it to you! Not only can you get it from a mosquito or other insect bite, but just because you have sexual relations with someone doesn't mean that it's passed. I've been with my hubby for 15 years now and have been infected for many more years - yet he still shows no signs of Lyme or any other tick-borne infection. There are many spouses (& spouses to be) that are like me and my hubby - but the potential for it to be passed sexually is definitely there!
