For any of you that take Magnesium, do you just get it at the drugstore and does it matter what dosage you get?

Or healthfood store. We use NaturalFactors mag citrate powder. 300mg 2x daily. Natural Calm is supposed to be good too. You can use it to bowel tolerance - you can tell if you are taking too much, just like Vit C.

I use the metagenics brand. My doctor gave me the mag citrate, but they also have a mag glycinate which is suppose to absorb better. I was thinking about switching when the bottle ran out, by that's going to be awhile

I have been told by a few ND's to get the magnesium glycinate. It absorbs the best, and one ND told me you don't get the diarrhea. But, I know some people use that as a guide - they keep increasing until they get diarrhea and then back off a bit...and that's their dose. So, it may not work if that's your method of achieving the correct dose.

I read a study on mag. As others mentioned- Mag glycinate is the most absorbed (I use KAL),followed by mag malate, citrate is third, oxide is last (dont bother with it). Most cheap stuff is the oxide.
