Just had a first appt with a new lyme doc last week. He looked over the 1/2 inch stack of previous blood work that I'd dropped off prior to the appt and gave me the doctor's equivalent of "...oh my..." He said, "You have a very complicated case... you've got a lot on your plate."
The upside is, he's an MD but, he was in the office with me for a full 90 minutes ! Unheard of for an MD.
We went over my previous labs, symptoms off the top of my head because I can never remember all of them (took a printed symptom list from the lyme research alliance with me), he noticed my hand tremors (which I'd forgotten about), seemed to be impressed with my knowledge of: lyme, high fibrinogen levels and its effects plus how to lower it via enzymes, blah, blah , blah.
I told him I didn't expect him to have anything in his arsenal that I could take that would kill this crap but, that I was open to suggestions. He did more bloodwork (5 vials worth) and he did an EKG for heart palpitations without requiring a second appt, and sent me home with a Holter Monitor for 48 hours.
Then before I left he said he wanted to see me in a month and asked that I sign a release of information statement so that he could get case notes from my previous LL-ARNP, and so that he could "visit with an oncologist friend of his" about my case.
Hmmm.... "an oncologist friend"....? I said, "I'm aware of the super high HHV-6 count and its relationship to cancer... I'm aware of the elevated liver enzymes, specifically alkaline phosphatase, which is indicative of tumor growth.... I've considered the possibility of cancer and there's no way I'd take chemo, I'm probably allergic to that too... but, I won't chase cancer with pharmaceuticals."
Just wanted to make sure that he and I were on the same page.
Waiting to hear back from his office. Might not hear anything until the next appt at the end of this month. Super nice, very knowledgeable guy.... I'm just not sure he can help. But, I'll give him the chance and see what he comes up with.
