husband's igenex - Indeterminant - lab doing additional test?

I just got the test results in my email....and even though it's Ind...there are positive bands, as well as Ind. bands...I'd say he has lyme disease.

I see Igenex has changed the criteria for positive. It's now If two or more of the following are present:
23-25, 31, 34, 39, 41, 83-93


So, what do you all think? looks like a pretty strong reaction to me. He has three bands + and two bands IND
I had three bands + (different ones) and two bands IND as well.

So maybe Igenex is retesting an IND one to see if they can get a better response?

Wow, I am not familiar with Igenex testing, but that would seem to be positive? Sorry, I can't remember the history, is he symptomatic or was all of this just a precaution?

And what does a follow up test entail? Is it the same test again to see if they match?

I agreed to the test for $100.

It's still not an Igenex positive - because it's based on certain bands being positive. I was just hoping for the follow up test to be Igenex positive instead of IND.

He has had some strange symptoms during our marriage. Starting with a bout of chronic fatigue shortly after we were married - lasted a year or so...and then resolved somewhat.

A few years ago he had joint pain, and sore feet upon waking. He would hobble down the stairs in the morning. Then he started having fatigue..... He was hypothyroid and put on thyroid meds - at that time I questioned whether it was adrenal fatigue...but then it was all pushed aside. It was confusing because he was also working night shifts and not sleeping much during the day. He initially felt better on the thyroid meds...even though they're just T4 , not a mix of T3 and T4. But, now they don't seem to be working as well, and he tried a higher dose, not any better.

All through our marriage, he hasn't slept well. Gets an average of 5 hours per night.
He says he feels like his brain doesn't have energy...and he finds sometimes just talking is tiring.

Now, he doesn't eat until the end of the day. Because if he eats and takes his thyroid med he gets hot and sweaty, and tired. So, he waits until he's home for the day...and then eats.

Nothing ever excites him. It used to though. Prior to our marriage, he had more enthusiasm.
He's always the first one to want to leave a social function.
I'm thinking now that maybe he's just feeling blah and that is why there is the lack of enthusiasm, zest for life.

He tells me sometimes when I get up from sitting and my body hurts..."That's normal isn't it? It's just that we're getting older. "
Well, he's only 55...I don't agree. I never hurt upon standing until my Lyme symptoms hit me. I never had an ache or pain...so I don't buy that.
Maybe when we're 80.

Ah, sorry, I thought it was IGENEX + (you said they needed 2 + bands, so I didn't know it depents which ones). I hope the additional test, would help you, Girlie. Do you know what the additional test is called?

Sorry to hear that he probably has Lyme. But at least you know!

Gosh, sorry to hear this Girlie. But.... he can get on his meds and start getting treated. He might be one that bounces right back quickly.

I just went to a small local Lyme meeting. 100% were women. That got me thinking. I think this thing hits women more b/c of our hormones. I don't know about you but I get extremely ill around the menstrual cycle. And out of my two children, it's the boy that seems to be bouncing back like nothing ever happened.

I say this all to give you a bit of comfort knowing that he might start getting his zest for life in a short time. I think you are both doing the right thing by following up. As it looks, I'm thinking he's positive. The bulls-eye is only from Lyme ticks. It's a sure sign of infection.

Stay strong for your hubby. He's lucky to have someone like you with all your knowledge. Keep us updated.

Yes, I think he needs to start treatment and at least see how he responds.

He's talking about holding off and building up his sick bank first. That way if he has a rough time he'll be able to stay home and not worry about the finances.

He actually said he wanted to hold off until I was better...but I talked him out of that.

I took another look at my Igenex test today..and if one of my IND was a +, I would be CDC positive...and they have pretty high standards...

Simela - Yes I should start giving him the Buhner herbs and start him on detox. This is going to be difficult...my husband doesn't stick to schedules....and it's a big job keeping my stuff going on schedule...yikes.

I may even give him some of my ammox or doxy I have left over...I have a few weeks of each.

Simela - I don't know if I was clear - it is through Igenex - the extra test.

I don't know if they just retest to look if one of the IND turns positive...or if it's a different test they do.

When I agreed to the test i hadn't seen the results...the ND's receptionist said it's IND and Dr. C. is requesting further testing...and I asked - are any of the bands positive, and she said she didn't think so. I agreed to the test...and then an hour later or so, got the email with the test results ...showing some positive bands, but the results were Igenex IND. As - it has to be certain bands that test + and my husband would need one of his IND to be +.

I had originally told my ND that my husband won't test if the test doesn't come back positive...but now looking at it...there definitely is enough of a positive reaction that we would be treating him anyway...

oh well - another $100 - in the big scheme of things...it's not that much...I guess....
