Hey Margaret,
I eat a high protein diet. Eggs, pork, chicken, seafood, beef, turkey, nuts ( all kinds). Then I drink a lot of homemade probiotic gingerale, I keep the sugar in it to a minimum like 1/2 cup to a gallon (really helps with the headaches). I eat a lot of broccoli and cauliflower, bananas(I know starchy but I love bananas!), mangos, lemons, avocados, carrots and celery I can't list all of them but lots of low sugar fruits and veggies. I use virgin coconut oil and extra virgin olive oil. I eat a lot of veggies steamed because as with a lot of people I have low acid in my stomach, so steaming helps with digestion.
But it is mostly about what I avoid.
I steer clear of processed sugar (just a tsp of sugar is enough to suppress the immune system for 16 hrs after consumption) I avoid any type of highly processed cooking oils examples, grape seed, corn oil, vegetable oil (I mean seriously, how many veggies would they have to process to get an ounce of oil??) A lot of these oils cause inflammation in the body. A lot of highly processed meats also cause inflammation (like deli meats) and since we want to avoid inflammation we want to avoid these types of foods. I also avoid starches like those found in gluten free baking products (no nutritional content in most cases) and grains (wheat, corn, rice basically all of it).
I do eat sweet potatoes but I probably shouldn't because of the starch content, but I've never felt badly after eating one so I just keep cooking them up, because they are so good!
I hope that this was helpful to you.
Sarah
