Lyme Disease patients should NOT Vaccinate!!! Proof in this sad story.

I found out about the dangers of vaccinating people who have lyme disease from the knowledgeable pediatric LLMD who was taking care of three of my kids when they had lyme last year. This was a topic I have been meaning to address, and this article just happen to pop up on Facebook, and I figured it would definitely be worth sharing on here.

When my youngest was first seen DR N., he asked me about her immunizations. I told her she was due to get her second Hepatitis B vaccine for school in February 2014, but I held off because I knew something was not right. Mother's instinct wins again! He said that was the best decision i ever made. He also said there is no F*^&ing way she was to get the second and third doses at that time.

Why? Read this article. This is why - because when receiving a vaccination, it drags down your immune system, messes it up - and that's when lyme and other illnesses can creep back and be at their strongest.

Honestly, I don't know what to do about the rest of my kids vaccinations at this point. I already had a letter signed by Dr N to postpone the Hep B for my youngest and the DPT for my oldest. How long will this letter last? When will the school nurse start bothering me again? Gotta plan for action - maybe i will need to have legal waivers signed or something. I still don't feel comfortable vaccinating them just a year out of their recovery. I will probably do their titers first (because who knows, maybe their titers will come back fine) and deal with the paperwork later. And for the record, I am never giving any of my kids the Gardasil vaccine.....or the flu shot for that matter. I am not anti-vaccine altogether, but I have just always been very cautious.

In the meantime, take a moment to read this. I am not posting this to depress anyone, but to make everyone aware of the dangers of vaccinating while having lyme disease.

Thanks for bringing this issue to light. The doc treating my son also made sure we were not vaccinating anytime soon. We don't vaccinate when our kids have the flu or are sick so when they have Lyme, it just makes sense to me to wait.

Chapelle, you are in NY like me. There is a bill being sponsored to give NY'ers philosophical exemptions. There is also a bill to require the HPV (Guardasil) vaccine for all girls AND boys! Basically, if we don't get the philosophical exemptions, we can't get out of the HPV vaccine even if you have a boy. If you have time, now would be a good time to write to and call your representative to let them know how you feel about these issues. I'm doing that now.

I am also not against vaccines at all. However, I want it to be my choice when my son (or myself) receives vaccines. Given my son's regular pediatrician knows nothing about Lyme and medical exemptions are flat out impossible, it's critical that we have the power to delay vaccines as needed. Currently in NY state we don't.

I asked the lady giving shots this fall for flu about this (turns out she did not know and her son has lyme). :(
Now I'm worried though. Andrew is a sophomore. In two years, he will need menengitis to get into college! I think he has had all his other vaccines - I should look and see how they coordinated with his time frame of lyme. Now I'm wondering if he got any at his well visit in 2013 that set this off, it was before summer camp (boy scouts)... I don't know what I'll do about college - have to really look into this unless anyone knows.

I have not had my two oldest get guardasil, I don't trust it. I figure we all made it this far in life, right? Plus, my 22 year old has lyme, he is symptom free, had the rash, but was undertreated, so who knows? OY!

I've learned out the hard way too--after the last shots my 5. Yr old daughter got, she started to have symptoms but the pediatric dr said it was a virus and gave her nothing to treat Lyme neither in the fall when she was bitten nor in December when symptoms and then a rash started :(

It has been on my mind that the shots triggered the symptoms and activated the infection but it is too late. I am in the process to change to a different pediatrician but they seem all the same! Very hard to find a good one! They just don't care! I sent him links to studies on how inaccurate the tests are, but he seems to care less about anything that challanges the status quo; since her test is negative he turned his back on us and he won't even give her a month of antibiotics!
