How to deal with general practices in the midst of being treated for lyme...?

tomorrow is the first time I have to deal with doctors that don't understand or care about lyme. Any tips? It always makes me nervous. They always have a way of trying to make you seem silly..

Solid advice Margaret thanks. My llnd told me I'd have to tell them what medications I'm on. he said he'd be willing to talk to them too. He seems really brave!

I don't tell them about the Lyme. It's probably wrong but it's easiest.

I am lucky, as my GP accepted my Igenex positive diagnosis. She has given me a standing order for monthly liver and kidney function tests.
But, I'm getting a little worried about the duration of antibiotics...and her thoughts about it. The last time she asked how I was feeling, and how long it was expected that I'd be on the antibiotics. I told her until I'm symptom free.

I think she's getting concerned about the length of time.

I told my GP that I was going to see a LLMD before my first appointment and she gave me a lecture that I just sat through and listened to. She told me that LLMD's are "conventional medicine" and that they often use long term antibiotics which could be dangerous. I told her that I understood and that I thought a lot about it. I then assured her that I wouldn't jump into any treatments without thinking it through and talking to my mom about it. She seemed to be okay with it and she seemed reassured that I was thinking this through. She also reminded me that if it didn't work out that she would start treating me again for Fibromyalgia. The only time she has mentioned it since is just asking how it is going and checking to see if I am still going. She isn't thrilled about it (you can tell in her tone of voice), but she is trying hard to respect my decision and that is all I can ask for. I only hope your experience can be this good.
