I had some lab tests taken and results are posted online and I really doesnt understand anything.

Lyme disease IGG blot was negative.

All bands 18, 23, 28, 30, 39, 41, 45, 58, 66, 93 all "non reactive"

Lyme IGM blot negative

Bands 23, 39, 41 non reactive.

Babesia and Bartonella negative

Everything else looks normal except :

Some background...2 years ago became very sick, was in bed for days, felt like I was being poisoned, has a bad rash all over ( no bullseye)...Drs were saying allergy to something...Within the last 2 years I have experienced symptoms from daily swelling in fingers, toes...One finger would swell for a few hours or the day and go away, only for another one to swell....I woke up one morning with one side of my face drooping (looked like bells palsy) but went away within hours...extremely itchy palms and soles of feet..Mysterious lumps that come and go..extreme fatique...

A while back someone mentioned Lyme ( I knew nothing about this disease)...My regular DR tested me and came out negative...I finally found a LLMD who after listening to symptoms was pretty sure it was Lyme...He ran Lab tests on me and my results were just posted...Was just wondering if this still seems like Lyme or No...The LLMD will interpret the results when I come up with the $$$$ for my follow up appointment but I am anxious to know after 2 years what I have.

Hi redsoxgirl - It is not uncommon for lab tests for Lyme disease to be negative. But, for your IgM, it lists only a few that are non-reactive. So, I am assuming the rest were reactive? If so, you definitely have enough positive bands - along with you symptoms to be diagnosed with Lyme disease.
You have a LLMD who believes you have it...If I were you, I would listen to him.

Did your regular Dr. test you for other things (lupus, other autoimmune problems, etc.?) to rule them out?

Also, is your LLMD ILADS trained?

If you haven't ​yet, it would be helpful for you to start with reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled,"New to Lyme?...Start here!!", as it is packed full of important information, symptom lists, helpful links and pdf's, how to detox when one has these infections,​ information on probiotics and much more.

As Girlie said, the testing that's available is far from being very accurate - only about 50% of those that actually have Lyme will be able to test positive on a Western Blot - and that's the most accurate test we have! So even the CDC tells us that diagnosis is to be made on clinical aspects (symptoms).

You will need to be sure that your LLMD is ILADS trained, as there are a bunch of doctors proclaiming to be LLMD's, but they aren't trained properly. Considering how long you have been sick, there's jut no point in even starting with a doc that might not treat you with the right meds, or the right dose, or won't treat long enough to actually rid you of these infections.

Can you describe your rash that you had 2 yrs ago? Your other symptoms are certainly in line with the good possibility that you have Lyme.

The rash I had was all over, even up my neck and part of face. It did look like maybe an allergy rash or hives. Just different blotches, some big some small that were raised.



How can I tell if my LLMD was ILADS trained? I did google his name and one website said he is trained with ILADS protocols.



I have read thru different peoples experiences and symptoms and seems like most people are far worse then I am. I almost feel guilty complaining about smaller symptoms like swelling or joint pain when some people are in serious condition.

I dont recall ever being biten by a tick nor even seeing one in the past 15 years BUT 2 years ago, a week before I started getting symptoms, I visited family in Georgia, we went to walk around and see the place where they shot the show "The Walking Dead" (where the govenors season was shot)....I was told by family its a high populated tick area, so my family teases me and jokes that I was probably biten by a mutant zombie tick

Sounds like your doc likely is trained by ILADS if they are using those guidelines - but ask. If they are ILADS trained, they will understand why you are asking - because you are informed enough to know that's what you need to be using.

And never feel bad for venting some about your symptoms. Everyone has different levels of severity with their symptoms. Pain is pain and when we get scared, we get scared. No one is 'competing' for "worst case of Lyme" here - we all want to see each other heal is all.

As for your rash - have you looked much at the tick-borne rash pictures? /sites.google.com/site/drjoneskids/rash-photos and don't forget to take a look at the Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever rashes as well to see if you can identify your rash.
