acne getting out of control during treatment? ??

I've been plagued with acne crawing slowly from my face down my neck to my back and shoulders since starting treatment. I'm 43 and never had a problem before to this extent! I get these little hard lumps in my pores on my face and chin as well. I never had that before.

Does anyone get this...and what do you think it is? Could it be toxins?? What do you do to keep it under control?

Bartonella can cause a lot of weird skin symptoms, including acne. Certain meds can make it better or worse.

Doxy had vastly improved my weird skin symptoms. I'm not saying to switch, but it has helped with my weird skin rashes and acne. When my Lyme, Bart and Babesia exploded, I started having acne issues. Nothing terrible. I had it mostly on my chest and some on my face. I had not had any issues in years.

The pores also seem to get clogged up with toxins as the skin works on expelling them. You can try more detoxing, such as dry brushing and Epsom salt baths. It might help. Good luck!

Something that has worked amazingly well for me is mixing Bentonite clay with raw apple cider vinegar to make a mask. (I don't get breakouts on my face, but I was getting a lot on my shoulders and back.) Mix in a glass or plastic bowl with a plastic or wooden spoon (no metal), apply, and let dry. It's a great detoxifier.

Ramping up other avenues of detox will help, too - baths, dry skin brushing, etc.

MarieLS: well I definitely know it couldn't be b12 because im not aloud to take it until more heavy metal detoxification is done apparently. Everytime I would take b12 i would get dizzy. Weird I know.

Lymie girl: I've been wondering if it might be Bartonella you know. Plus I get weird tiny hard crystal lumps the size of a grain of sand in my pores...especially my forehead! It feels like toxins trying to exit my face.

Well if you're not eating dairy, then your probably right about that, ha!

The genetic mutation info is actually pretty popular in this form. I had my LLMD request a MTHFR panel for a blood draw. I got the results within a week or so. Unfortunately, I just received a letter from insurance that says they don't want to cover it, yeah shocking, I know (insert eye rolling here).

But, you can also order it online via a salvia test at 23andme.com. I believe it can take up to 3 weeks to come back and once you have the results, you will want to use another online site to help decode the results. The genetic mutations can also provide insight to some detoxing obstacles you may have.

If you want more info, do a search in the search box at the top right hand section of your screen...enter "MTHFR testing" or "23andme" etc. I am sure there a lots of threads on the topic!

Lymie Girl - I have thought the same about 23andme! Also, I am not sure if the MTHFR blood panel tested for anything other than C677T and A1298C, those are the only two that came back positive, but I don't know if they looked for any others? I seem to have sulfite issues, so thinking info on my CBS pathway would be helpful, assuming 23andme covers this. It sounds like 23andme may be more comprehensive.

23andme provides you with a downloadable zipfile of "raw data" for $100.

Then for $30 you can upload the data to "MTHFR Support" and it spits out a couple hundred gene differences/mutations. Well worth it. There is actually some possible life saving information there too. It provides some links on each one but does not tell you what to take or do for it. MTHFR also has a genetic Dr search per each state.

Well there goes the idea of Bentonite Clay.......it's been reaped from the health food stores in Canada.....yeahhhhh Canada. Apparently it's been taken away because there wasn't any research done on it.

Ugh! Can you order online, or is that restricted too? Sorry for my ignorance, but does Amazon ship to Canada? If so, I can post the link to the brand that I use. It comes in many forms, clay mask, capsules, by the pound, etc.
