Epitope test - Igenex

My husband's Igenex WB came back as IND.
He had 31 +, 41 +, and 34 IND, 39 IND, 83-93 IND.

On the sheet, it said If only bands 31 and 41 are present, confirmation test #488 is recommended for Indeterminate WB result.

So, it came back positive.

So, that means his Igenex test is a positive??

It said that the positive Epitope test confirms that the 31 + is specific to Bb.

I can't remember but it also said something like it had 95% sensitivity and 97% specificity??? I will recheck that last bit of information.

If he's positive, then I'm thinking it was several years ago...because that's when he had the bullseye rash, and joint pain and a few other issues. (prior to 2010)

I'm thinking he gave it to me...and I harboured it with my immune system beating it down until I went through a few years of emotional, occupational stress...and my body couldn't handle it. My symptoms came on fast and furious starting in April, 2013.

That may be why I'm progressing slowly with healing?

What do you all think? No hesitation in treating, right? I have to build my case...as hubby tends to ignore medical stuff...thinks he's just getting older...just suffers quietly...

The criteria for a positive is: at least two double starred bands are present from this list: 23-25, 31, 34, 39, 41, 83-93.

But, if only bands 31 and 41 are only ones +, then it's considered IND and the Epitope is recommended.
So, that's why we had it done, he only had 31 and 41 +.
So, now that it's confirming that the + 31 is indeed from Bb, then that changes his IND to a Positive.

I will tell hubby he needs to treat. He has thyroid issues...and he may want to sort that out first (I think he's undermedicating...as he is in the lower range of T3 and T4)...but, we have an appt. on Monday that we are travelling several hours including a ferry ride...and I want him to start on meds a.s.a.p.

Just don't know how I'm going to do with scheduling him and I for our meds and "extras" that need to be taken.
I will almost have to open his mouth and put them in...lol. He is not a 'scheduled' kinda guy.

I think he is feeling worse than he's been letting on. He's not fighting me on the appt. on Monday at all...and the fact that he is considering treatment...is BIG. I think he's realized that he should be feeling better than he is. He's not old, in early 50's, but he has kept saying symptoms are from getting old. Heck, maybe if he was 80...I'd accept that.

the more I think about it, the more I realize that it's possible hubby has had it for a long time.

Yesterday he told me that in the 70's he was always in the bushes on his motorcycle, and was covered in bugs all the time...but didn't pay attention/know about ticks.

And, he keeps telling me about this bullseye rash that he took a picture of a few years ago. Unfortunately, we've experienced two computer crashes, and although we have the hard drives, there are so many photos on each one...it would take forever for him to find the photo.
I don't remember him telling me about the bullseye rash years ago, but he insists it was a 'classic bulls-eye - just like the Target one'...lol

Well, we can get the prescription at the appt., and he can hang on to it for a couple weeks, and retest his thyroid after he starts taking it properly...see where it's at...and then start the meds.

Oh my - what if our herxes coincide one day? Won't that be just the worst thing imaginable...goodness gracious. Well, you know what they say, "Misery loves company"....
Maybe it's punishment for him...for the few times he hasn't been as compassionate during my herxes...and I've said to him..."you just wait....if you have lyme and you herx...you will understand what I'm going through"
