Well the funding is from Lyme disease research org , and that Paul guy isn't the only author. Also it's published as an open article for everyone to have access to including the public and any doctor. Lots of research work articles have many restrictions.

Personally I don't think there is any bias.

This builds on the other reseaech from last July that showed how all the individual antibiotics worked on lyme.

Hey, LP - just wait and see. That "Paul guy" will show his "true colors" to everyone!!!

PS- this is just a ribbing, LP!! smilewinkgrin - although I have already done enough research to know about Paul Auwaerter and where he stands on all of this!

Hopefully though, someone will pick up on this and do the real tests and see if it actually cures Lyme or if it too will only put more people into a state of chronic Lyme like the rest of IDSA's treatments do. Of course the IDSA can't find out if it will help those of us with Chronic Lyme though, as they don't believe in it, so why would they try to find a treatment for it?

Traveler, the research for this is not from the IDSA! It is funded from Lyme Disease research org. They have nothing to do with the IDSA. I have no opinion of this Paul guy and never read about him. Lol, all he is to me is Paul !

Also it is true this needs to be done in humans now too. Who knows if it will allow for a cure. I think all the soft tissues would be cured. I think they can find out the right dosages at least. Daptomycin is a really expensive drug though right now and currently reserved for bad staph infections. So it will work well in the soft tissues where lyme likes to reside at least.

Also daptomycin doesn't have the best brain penetration, but it can still get through if the doses are high enough. I hope this works for cure!

I realize there is still lots of doctor politics that will probably delay any quick progress.

Traveler it does however highlight the importance of combination therapy for effective treatments... No wonder your chronic tonic works so well!!! There are like 6 or so herbs in that!

LP - the Chronic Tonic has 11 herbs in it and yes, I too believe that's why it worked so well for me.

Time will tell with this study. I hope that it really does open the door for those with new tick infections and leads to opening the door for those with chronic infections as well.

I'm just super gun shy of those that have attached themselves with the IDSA is all. But everyone has the option of changing.

Long term antibiotics really are not good for the body. This is the way they should be moving. Trying to find an effective combination that will get ride of it with a normal length course of antibiotics (usually for most things that require antibiotics I've never heard of more than a month). I hope this can be a reality some day.

I want to also say I am happy with this research too. I would rather be done with the disease in a month rather than 2 or 3 years. I'm not saying There aren't any controversies and certainly taking abx long term is no where near as bad as a chronic lyme infection, but it should be an effective treatment that knocks it out fast. This is important research. I would rather do this than take abx for what seems like forever.

I’m a patient not a doctor. None of them still get it from my view. And my nearest, closest buddy is Gracie the now pregnant Costas 1.5 year old hummingbird.

Great questions from above.. I’m the Rodney Dangerfield of church but Believe, hospitals, Mayo especially!! I get Peter Tosh.

Undiagnosed Lyme, Relapsing Fever till after ~10 years.. I’m almost better after 26th month on broad spectrum antibiotics..my theory is if it hurts, anywhere, get it out. My story only. Not advice.

..many of those pictures have common elements, and funny, all need same antibiotics. I think lots of MRSA, hospital diagnosis could be Lyme. But tests are prohibitively $$$. And take 3 weeks !!!

I got mine from tics in last of tiny woods in subdivision in Washington where mice and deer lived in cramped quarters. Even bobcats were seen.

Like in Illinois, next to last woods in subdivision leading into Mississippi, has to run from big mean Corn snakes, was toooo close to northern copperhead, got bit by everything. Never told my mom. Thought I’d get in trouble. Ate raw hot dogs as kid twice. Treated 55 years later. Possible complications like major accident in 2004 precipitated immune weakness. Shingles blah, blah too many. But in 8th grade I ran 5 minute mile and was generally healtly till ‘04.
