"So is difficulty climbing stairs or a hill a typical symptom of Bart?"
Yes, I believe so and my LLMD agrees with this: muscle pain is related more to barto than lyme but it could of course be a combo. Sole pain is also a very significant Barto symptom and more typical to barto. My son doesn't usually have calf pain, but my 5 yr old daughter does. I suspect barto for her causing this too, because she has other barto symptoms. I don't know, but it seems for us, the barto symptoms are affecting us way more than lyme.
For my son it goes in cycles. If he sits for long periods of time, then he has problems taking first steps when getting up. This used to be my problem too, before I was treated for Barto, which was at least 2 years after the infection. I don't know when I got infected and when I found out I was infected, as usual with GP, I was treated only for Lyme. In addition, it is difficult for him to walk or run as he used to because of muscle pain.
For me, Barto symptoms were noticed over 2 years later from the first time I was treated for Lyme, after some shots of steroids for a car accident. It is likely that if I wouldn't have had those shots I wouldn't have needed any treatment for lyme/barto. I never knew I had barto until then. My immune system is amazing, it still is. It kept both lyme and barto in check for years--only God knows how long, but at least 2 years. I had a good GP that wanted to test me for Lyme and I was shocked I tested + because I actually didn't feel sick when I was first diagnosed--I only had maybe less than 1 hour of symptoms total that year (but I think it was even much less than that), if I would have to add the times I felt anything bothering me at all, which really didn't worry me at all.
I don't know anything about
adrenals. But I think that would have more to do with overall fatigue and not so much with muscle pain? I don't know, maybe someone else that actually knows about
this will be able to help you with this.
What are you going to do, since all treatments make you herx so much? Are you taking anything antibacterial at all?
Take care and feel better. Blessings and good health :)
