Question on different Doxycycline types(PILLvsCapsule)

I took doxy before and they were little pills and I was fine with it that was from my normal doctor, When i went to see my LLMD for the first time he prescribed me minocycline which causes my throat to swell out and difficulty breathing and I told him I was fine when i took the doxy so he prescribed me doxy again but its different this time in big capsules(not little pills like i took before)and says doxycycline mono on it. I am concerned im going to have the same bad reaction on this as I did as the minocycline since online it says this

Don't take if you are allergic to any ingredient in doxycycline monohydrate or to another tetracycline (eg, minocycline)

The first time I took doxy and it was the little pills I was fine and didnt say mono on them, this time their giant capsules so i looked it up online and it says dont take if you had a bad reaction to minocycline

SO my question is , is this the same as the doxy I took before just in capsule form?(both are 100mg) or is this different and I should not take it. Since its still Doxy and I handled doxy fine before I would think it would be ok until I read that thing online about how not to take Doxy Mono if you had a bad reaction with minocycline so Im really confused, why I would be prescibed this capsule verison if I had a bad reaction to minocycline and not the pill version of doxy which i handled fine? or is it the same and i Shouldnt worry?

I take Doxycycline Hyclate in capsules (fairly good size, but not terrible). I'm aware that there is a form of Doxy that is supposed to be less upsetting to the stomach due to the coating. I'm not sure if it is Doxy Mono or something else. I think it might be the Mono that is less upsetting.

Doxy is different from Minocycline, but it would be a good idea just to double check with the pharmacist (at least-just in case to see if what the difference is) or your LLMD.

It most likely is fine. Of course, call your LLMD if you have an allergic reaction. Lots of people might be allergic to one, but not the other. I would not worry since you said you have previously taken Doxy. You can ask the pharmacist if it will help ease your mind.

yeah i asked my phamacy and she was like their exactly the same but the salt inside of them is a little different whatever that means and said it should be fine since I was fine with the other doxy i took, I was just concered why I was given a different type of doxy from before and why this one says not to take if you have a bad reaction to minocycline and the pill doxy didnt say anything about that....its strange

I think they are just trying to cover their bases with warnings. Some docs don't give you a med in the same class if you have had an allergy to one. However, I think it is different with Lyme. Lots of people are allergic to one and not the other.

I think the biggest difference is the coating on the pill that makes one easier on the stomach. I'm not 100% sure.

You should be fine.

I had an allergic reaction, lips itching and swelling, with Minocycline. I have taken Doxycycline many times without a problem. Sometimes it has been in small peach colored tablet the Hyclate form, Blue-green capsules, and now multicolored capsules labeled as Vibramycin which is the same as Doxycycline. Many colors depending on the manufacturer, but I have not had any sort of reaction to Doxy.

I couldn't tolerate Minocycline: very bad diarrhea and nausea, loosing a lot of weight in a very short time, but I never had any issues (except for the herxing, which is normal) with Doxy. I took oral and IV Doxy.

i dont get it and this rlly makes me want to give up, I went ahead and took it and this doxy mono gave me the same reaction as the minocycline and caused my throat to swell and get tight I dont get why I wasn't given the little pill doxy that I had before and was fine on this is the 4th antibiotic now iv payed for and wasted that has caused a reaction, its reallly hard to be hopeful....I dont get if this doxy mono is the same as the other doxy why it would bother me unless im allergic to the different salt it uses thats the only different my doctor and pharmacy said, this is unrreal i just want to start a treatment and be able to stay with it

Call your LLMD and ask. I hope you can get something that works well for you.

Benadryl might help. If it is bad, get medical help.

i took two denadryl and it helped, it sucks that I cant just get on a antibiotic and stay with it, iv been taking herbs for months but I dont think herbs and diet alone without antibiotics will cure me, its so stressful right now
