Can't tolerate most antibiotics

My LLMD said I may have a methelation problem and to look more into that, recommended me a NP MD.

Anyone have any insight/a similar experience?

When taking the ILADS recommended doses for malarone, rifampin, and amoxicillin, I feel unbearably terrible. I lose facial hair, my symptoms get so bad i simply can't tolerate any of them. Except doxy, Zithro and low doses of those antibiotics.

The funny thing, and I've mentioned this here before, is if I take 300mgs of doxy a day I feel 100% almost all the time. But I can't go off it. We are going to introduce tindamax but after I consult a NPMD for methelation issues first.

Hi Reba,

Yep, many of us on here have a defect in the MTHFR gene--50% of all humans do. This can cause methylation problems. Your NP/MD can help you figure out how to work with it if you have it.

I found this link that mentions other causes for methylation difficulties. The page is long, but you may find what you need by reading just the first 1/3 of the page. There is waaaaay more info out there for you, I just thought this one was pretty easy to understand. Good luck, & please keep us posted!

We are learning more and more about the issues that stop us from healing. Just 5 years ago, we didn't even know about methylation issues here, much less some of the more severe issues that can stop a person from being able to tolerate treatments. Lots of people who thought they just were never going to be able to heal, likely have one of these types of issues.

I don't have as much of an issue with the MTHFR gene, but I do have some methylation and detox issues. I believe my LLND said that the issues I have explain a lot of why I have issues with medications.

I also have a big problem with antibiotics. I've had bad reactions to doxycycline, keflex, clindamycin, amoxicillin, vancomycin, levaquin, and some others I can't remember now. I've gone the all-herbal route, and it is helping. So there is hope to heal if you can't handle antibiotics.

It's good to hear you're experiencing relief. I haven't gone on herbs yet but will hopefully be transitioning off antibiotics to herbs by the end of the year
