Jessica - Both are good if they are qualified - meaning Lyme Literate...and even better if they are members of ILADS. This is not easy to find in Canada. Usually we don't recommend being treated by a non ILADS Dr., but like I said, in Canada, there aren't many.
I do know of some LLND's in Victoria, BC, they are not ILADS members, but have taken training and I know people who are seeing them and are being treated appropriately.
Canadians are limited...as there is only one ILADS member MD that I am aware of. He is in Vancouver,BC area.
But, if you live close to the U.S. border...in the East, you could see a LLMD in the U.S. It will be all "out of pocket", though.
Some people in BC and Alberta travel to Seattle, Washington to see a well-known LLMD .
You could try the ILADS Physician Referral and see what you find. When I recently did it for my area, I was surprised to see another LLND on the list that I wasn't aware of, as well as the LLMD in Vancouver area.
