Hello All,
As some of you know, I recently made a post about my slow but steady recovery on antibiotics since starting rifampin/doxy combo 7 months ago. It was until the 3 month mark that I started noticing improvement. The combo has gotten rid of my brain fog along with many other symptoms that I once had.
2 months ago the doctor replaced my doxy with minocycline (1 pill a day 100mg, never taken before). The first month I experienced intense neck stiffness along with other herx symptoms. The following 2-3 weeks after that was perhaps the best I have felt since having lyme (95%)
However, 2.5 weeks ago I began having slight anxiety, ocd thoughts, intrusive thoughts that come and go. Not nearly as severe as when the disease began 2 years ago, but they are definitely there. OCD thoughts, anxiety were my first symptoms ever with lyme and they always disappeared while on antibiotics. I have not had these symptoms in close to a year. Is this a herx? The minocycline with greater penetration getting into my brain where the doxy couldn't touch? I am not having any brain fog or other herx symptoms besides weight loss, tingling sinuses and lower energy. I am scared that the disease is progressing or the lyme has become resistant to the antibiotics? I feel like this is the true turning point in my battle, it can either be a herx getting rid of the deep bacteria in my brain or the bacteria are starting to become resistant. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
