Hello Everyone,
First of all, I'd like to say that I am very happy to have found this website! I was diagnosed with Lyme disease in Oct. 2013 and happened to find out I was pregnant with my daughter shortly after. I have only taken Amoxicillin for a month when I was about 3 months pregnant and haven't done any treatment since then because of breastfeeding. At the time I was seeing an infectious disease doctor who believed that taking antibiotics for a month would cure me, but we all know it unfortunately isn't that simple. Therefore, I am in a search for a new doctor. I have made some phone calls to LLMD but no one seems to take insurance. Is this the norm? Do most people end up having to pay out of pocket? I would greatly appreciate it if I could get a list of LLMD's in my area, Brooklyn NY but I am willing to travel to Staten Island or NYC. Thank you so much!

Hi Gina, Welcome to our community!

I am not from the U.S., so I will let someone else answer the insurance question. (I believe it's mostly out of pocket, though)

When you have a moment, take a look at the thread at the top of the page titled: "New to Lyme?"..Start Here!? It's full of great information...symptom lists, detox ideas, etc.

Establishing several detox methods is very important when treating lyme disease. The detox will help cleanse your body of the toxins that are produced when the bacteria dies-off.

Gina, send me an email. My LLMD in NYC does not take insurance, but I have a name of someone in Staten Island who does.
