Igenex results positive or negative??

I've been sick for about 12 years with various symptoms, ranging from neuropathy in hands, extreme anxiety/panic, depression, back/shoulder/arm pains, reflux/digestion issues, etc. Six months prior to the beginning of all this, I did have a bite on my upper arm that grew to the size of a baseball and caused me to have double vision and low grade temp. At ER it was diagnosed as a brown recluse spider bite, but I never needed the predicted skin graphs, it faded in about 6-8 weeks. I've pursued the entire hormone, thyroid, adrenal road for years, with no improvement. Most recently tested for Lyme with mixed results. My Naturopathic doctor believes it's positive and should be treated, my GP says its negative and a trip to the nearest LLMD felt that there was a 25% chance that it was positive, meaning 75% chance it's negative and that he would not suggest treatment. I was hoping to get some opinions and possibly experiences of treating and getting better, when test results were inconclusive.

Labcorp Western Blot returned with all bands completely negative

This test was repeated twice with same results

Due to mixed opinions, and my past inability to tolerate antibiotics, I chose to repeat the tests 5 months later and got completely different results. :(

Each test is just a snapshot in time of a specific section of your blood. It is entirely possible that you tested most recently at a bad time. It's also possible that Lyme has suppressed your immune system. You have Lyme specific bands, 31, 34 and 39. IND should be considered because it shows a response. You can't be sort of pregnant. Either you are or you are not.

Based on your history, bands and symptoms, I'm kind of surprised that the LLMD thinks that there is a 25% chance. Is this doctor ILADS trained? I think that you could have Lyme based on your symptoms. I think you should look into it some more. Most GP's don't believe in chronic Lyme. You really need someone who is ILADS trained.

Hi Lymie Girl! I'm not sure if this LLMD is ILADS trained. He is the doc around here that everyone goes to if they have Lyme Disease. LOL He's been treating it for 20-30 years.

You can contact ILADS to find an ILADS trained doctor. They should be able to tell you if your doctor is ILADS trained.

I think you have enough to keep pursuing Lyme. Is your doctor treating you?

If you can't tolerate antibiotics, there are well established herbal protocols, such as Buhner. I have a hard time with antibiotics. I have to go slowly. I suspect I likely have methylation issues, which I need to confirm. A good LLMD can help guide you through these issues.

I would start by finding out if your doc is ILADS trained. If you need help finding a different LLMD, we can help.

Looking at your two IgM results - The activity is on the same bands. The more recent test shows less of a response:

Band 18 shows positive in both tests.
Band 31 ++ and then changed to + in more recent test.
Band 34 IND and then changed to - in more recent test.
Band 41 + and then changed to IND in more recent test.
Band 83-93 IND and changed to - in more recent test.

This could be explained by your immune system suffering more due to having the infection longer when the second test was done.

I would look for a ILADS trained LLMD and schedule an appt.

To find one, start a new thread titled: "Looking for LLMD in/near__________" and fill in the blank.

Then enable your email option so we can send you names of LLMD's - we're not allowed to post the names on the forum for privacy reasons.
