Hi Happy and P,
Yes, I know about Vanco. It was used, unsuccessfully, to treat c. diff. when I had it. I would resort to it or Vanco. if I did have some kind of unresolved infection.
Thx. for the reminder about kefir though.
P., No, I don't think we had that discussion. I have had Chronic Bronchitis at least twice in my life so far. And while I don't take oral steroids, I am forced to rely on a steroidal inhaler, as that's the only kind of maintenance inhaler available for asthma, which I also have.
This is a bit TMI, but would my sputum be thick and yellow if the infection were fungal?
When I was in grad. school bf Lyme dx, my doc used to say, ironically, that I was having repeat bouts of acute mycoplasma pneumonia, since it traveled readily among undergrads.
Having said all that, I haven't always had the yellow sputum w. my chronic coughs, and after the yellow stuff goes away, my coughs sometimes di bc. Chronic.
Usually my sinusitis goes away with the use of Goldenseal or Ceyptolepsis in my saline rinse, and I'm currently using Crypto. For now, I think the sinuses are getting better, and while the lung sputum is starting to thin out post Olive Leaf extract (which I'm still taking), I'm stull coughing a lot, still coughing a lot, and my O2 sat rate is below what it should be.
I don't think my sputum has ever been cultured;doctors are such idiots. I don't remember if and how the acute myco was dxed, except that it follows a certain cluster of symptoms, which, I might add, I just had, i.e. bad sore throat, cold symptoms, and cough. This is the acute version of Myco to which I'm referring.
I'll have to see how things go, and if they don't resolve, I could ask for a culture. My doc. never did call in another abx!
