Started using OLE for an upcoming Lyme test. Got tested back in 2001 and test was negative for Lyme. I did test positive for EBV. Was told I had fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. Somewhere along the line I read about the anti-viral effects of OLE. I started taking it over the years off and on and always felt worse and would stop. Now that I'm taking it again and feeling like crap from the herx, it's all making sense. Calling to make an appointment tomorrow with a LLMD. Hopefully I can get in within a month and get a diagnosis soon. Can't recall how many doctors I've seen over the years and had to file bankruptcy a few years ago over medical bills. The LLMD is 5 hours away and that is not of concern. I would sincerely like to have my life back.

OP - are you going to do the Igenex WB before your LLMD appt?

So sorry to hear you had to file for bankruptcy. It's just not right - As if we don't have enough on our plates with this nasty illness - we certainly shouldn't have to worry about money (or lack of).

I hope you can get an appt within a month - if not ask to be put on a wait list - in case there's a cancellation.

I'm hoping the doctor will let me have it done in his office. I already have the testing kit here at home.

When my eye doctor mentioned Lyme and the Igenex test she said I could have the blood draw done at the local hospital. Pirouette suggested the OLE for 4 weeks.

I had called Labcorp (who was closest) to see if they would do it and they said NO, not unless they were going to do the testing.

I called the hospital and asked for the blood lab. They said yes, they would do the draw and take care of packing and shipping. They just wanted to know if there were any special instructions like freezing. Having to have the draw done and shipped to be received by Friday wasn't an issue either.

So I brought the kit, with the order signed by my Rheumatologist early in the week to the hospital, they did the draw and took care of all of it. The report will go to whoever signs the order. You could have your PCP sign it if you can't get into the LLMD right away. Having the test done before meeting with the LLMD might speed things up.

I'm thinking the same as Kim - if you have it done before - the results can be available for your first LLMD appt.

There are instructions in the test kit for the lab re: what to do with the sample (if it needs spinning... or?)

Will it matter if I don't go the full 4 weeks of the OLE before the lab testing?

So I read a thread that Pirouette posted in telling someone that you should take OLE about 6 weeks prior (or as close to that as possible)

So I guess you may as well take the OLE right up to your Dr appt and have him/her test you then.

Have you read how much you should be taking?

One week of Japanese Knotweed was enough to get me a CDC positive Lyme blood test (two previous tests were CDC negative).

Thank you all for the feedback. I will continue the OLE and try to get in next month.
