Having a lot of breathing and swallowing issues lately, as well as racing pulse and elevated blood pressure. Also having severe leg pain with a lot of fasciculations. Just started Lyrica for pain. Anyone else has all of these systems??? Thanks

Bump.

I would stop the Lyrica immediately. Breathing, swallowing difficulty and raised BP are classic allergic reactions. When I've had reactions to meds, those were always the first systems I manifested.

If you have liquid Benadryl on hand, take a double dose which is what I keep handy. Personally though, I would call EMS. I've done it before because if you only have one person with you they have to drive.

Don't fool around, better to have spent a night in the ER for nothing.

I have had shortness of breath, swallowing problems but my pulse has never raced and my blood pressure has always been on the lower side. Yes to the fasciculations!

gkamom assessment of potential allergic reaction is a wise one.

Was this happening prior to the Lyrica or after?

Mike, please let us know what happens. Having been through many allergic reactions, I will worry until I'm sure you're ok.

My husband has been dealing with swallowing issues, fasciculations, and his pulmonary function test showed him being at 58 % with lung function. Of course, being that he was diagnosed with ALS three years ago, they say it is a normal progression with his illness. It's interesting isn't it, that people with Lyme can have these same symptoms. Being that he tested positive for Lyme two years ago, I say it's not a coincidence. It's a travesty that they are not diagnosing PALS correctly.

Thank yo u for the responses. These problems existed before Lyrica. My breathing and swallowing seem to be a bit better now, but fasciculating like crazy and a lot of muscle pain. Recently had a second round of testing through Armin labs and was as follows:

borrelia burgdorferi fully antigen +4

borrelia b. OSP Mix +3

borellia burgdorferi LFA-1 +2

Anyone else had this testing done? Curious for second opinions on the results

Had exact problems which lasted for about a month. Fasciculating in arms got to the point of going for hours and hours on end until finally easing away. I dropped a vase on my foot due to a sudden twitching finger. redface

I twitched all over, too. It went away with treatment....it shows up again now and then - recently when I stopped treatment for 2 1/2 months....

Re: swallowing issues: When symptoms first came on, I had the sensation of a lump in my throat...and certain foods would catch there. I had a bit of a dry cough along with it. When it was at it's worst, i would even choke on my spit sometimes.

Barium xray - showed nothing; ENT - tube down nose - with camera to check swallowing/esophagus - showed nothing.

Treatment - resolved - now and then when I herx/flare, it comes back...
