Hi awaiting Igenex results, llnp thinks it's lymes, I was saying maybe not. llnp said if the antibiotics don't do anything for symptoms, then you know it's not Lyme

Sound about right?

Yes, it sounds right - You should get a response after starting antibiotics - either you will feel some improvement or you will feel a worsening of symptoms (herx)
This usually happens within a few weeks. (sometimes it takes longer)

When I went on my first antibiotic for Lyme - I herxed on Day 4.

This Day 4 herx has repeated itself several times as I change antibiotics.

Actually, that doesn't sound right. First, antibiotics could make symptoms worse as they kill the bugs, as in a herx reaction. Also, different people will respond differently to different treatments. A lot depends on what form the Lyme is in, what strains you have, what coinfections you have, and what other toxins are in your body.

Sorry Girlie, I didn't see your reply before I posted. Just to be clear, I didn't mean to contradict Girlie at all. I think she and I meant the same thing about herxing, but we said it in different ways. When craymom said "if antibiotics don't do anything for symptoms..." I read that as if your symptoms don't improve.

Nosila - I consider the herx "doing something" as we often herx when antibiotics are started and periodically through treatment...which is an indication that it is killing the bacteria.

Sure there are people who don't herx.... but from what I have read - they are few and far between.

In my life - prior to lyme - if I took antibiotics for an infection - for strep throat example - I never felt worse - never herxed.
