On one hand I think the MLM marketing of doTerra and Young Living is a big reason why more people have come to learn about
the oils and actually try them, which I think is a really good thing.
However my preference is that essential oils should really be treated more like wines made from a specific region in small batches rather than an commodity product or a trademarked proprietary blend.

My ideal essential oil buying experience would be like a farmer's market with some kind of 3rd party rating system to ensure purity. Some prefer the YL/doTerra vertically integrated model where you just get a consistent product without worrying about
where it came from, which is just a matter of preference I guess. The downside of the MLM marketing is that more of your money is going to the people above you in the pyramid rather than the farmers and distillers of the oil.
