I certainly feel stuck - my methylation variants are big contributors (in my opinion) to my digestive and immune system problems, and the inability to tolerate the die-off from the Lyme treatments.
Before this latest round of total digestive shut-down, I was taking the supplements for my double-mutation CBS variant, and it still wasn't enough to prevent the gut shutting down (probably thanks to contributing issues of Lyme/coinfections and allergies).
But now I can't even take any of the supplements for the mutations, because of the gut shut-down (gastroparesis is linked to low BH4, which detoxes ammonia (a known Lyme neurotoxin)...and my methylation variants cause low BH4).
So yeah, I certainly feel stuck. I don't know what to do next, and neither does my doctor...
Ok, so for those wondering about
methylation, here's some info:
Best info is at
dramyyasko.com -- read the free book "Pathways to Recovery" (it says Autism in the title, but it pertains to most all chronic illnesses).
Condensed info (much more technical) is here:
www.heartfixer.com/AMRI-Nutrigenomics.htmFor testing:
Dr. Yasko Methylation Panel (looks at 30 SNP's all related to methylation):
www.holisticheal.com/health-tests/nutrigenomic-testing23andme.com looks at a lot of genes, for genealogical as well as others, and some but not all of the methylation genes are included.
For 23andme.com results analysis, there are many sites. Some are mentioned at the second methylation link above (heartfixer). You can get the methylation genes from your 23andme.com results analyzed for free on Dr. Yasko's site here:
knowyourgenetics.com - join for free, then plug in your methylation gene results from 23andme.com and you'll get a free report on what supplements to use to help compensate for each variant SNP. Use the protocol given in the first methylation link above (Dr. Yasko's book) to implement these supplements...and it is best to work with a health care practitioner on this because it is so complex.
I hope this info helps...
