Tingling in hands from Doxy?

Hi,

I am on day 6 of doxy. Just 100mg twice a day. I know that I am supposed to stay out of the sun, but my son had a baseball game yesterday. I sat in the shade 95% of the time. I still got uncomfortably sunburned. But now today, my hands tingle. This morning it felt like rain drops were falling on me and I kept asking others if it was misting. It wasn't. When I wash my hands, they really tingle/burn . Is this reaction okay? Has anyone else experienced it? I just want to make sure that it is okay to continue the doxy.

It could be some sort of weird reaction to the doxy, yeah. I don't see why not. I'm not really learned though, when it comes to all that. Hopefully someone a bit more suited will stop by for ya.

I'd go another day, see if it's still there tomorrow.

I do not take Doxy but I get this from taking my Samento and Banderol sometimes, as a herx.

I was trying to figure out if this,was a herx or a reaction to doxy/sun exposure.

Strange, I never had this reaction and I was on the same dosage and didn't take precautions to protect my skin from the sun (although I would hardly be outside because of heat intolerance). I was exposed to the sun during driving but never got burnt. Hopefully others can provide more insight. Sorry I'm of no help.

I would say it's from inflammation but tied to herxing.

YES!!!! This happened to me without a doubt. I had to stop taking it because it was so bad - i couldn't even drive my car without my hands getting burned. Some people are more sensitive than others. I was on it in the springtime leading into the summer, so there was no way for me to manage it. You cannot protect your skin with sunblock either - it will happen anyway, because it is an actual chemical reaction between the doxy and the sun that causes your skin to burn. This problem went on for a week or two and then eventually lead to peripheral neuropathy (extreme cold water sensation running thru my skin) - similar to yours. I would advise that you speak with your Dr right away! Sorry this has happened to you.

Chapelle - your reaction sounds identical to mine.

My LLMD called today and told me that it was a herx (my first one since I had only been on doxy for 6 days). They asked me to stop the doxy for 3 days and then to resume and note if I have these symptoms again. So, I'll give that a try and see what happens. But, I really do think I will remain very sun sensitive regardless of a herx or not. I can handle the sensitivity, but I don't want the peripheral neuropathy.

I had the same reaction as Chapelle had. I was on IV Doxy, 200mg/day in February. My hands got burned from sitting in the car. And my face from walking to the grocerie store 200m from my house... It was mildly red (someone who doesn't know me wouldn't see it), but it hurt a lot, tingled, stinged.
Couldn't believe it: in the midst of winter.
The burnt feeling lasted for about 2 weeks.
