Welcome!
Sorry for the reason you're here but glad you found us.
Now that the ILADS guidelines are listed in our government's guideline clearinghouse:
www.guideline.gov/content.aspx?id=49320&search=iladsI'd like to think that "regular" doctors might give them more credibility. Then again, those doctors need to recognize a positive Lyme test and diagnose clinically.
Still, it sounds like your PCP recognizes the fact that you have Lyme. If you want to go the abx route, maybe sharing the guidelines with your PCP will help you get the abx you need.
The things you are taking are good to start. However, if you're going to use herbs, it's really best to follow an established protocol (Buhner, Chronic Tonic, Cowden, Jernigan, White).
You may know that that Lyme toxins are what drive our symptoms. You see, as the bacteria go through their life cycle, some of them die. The dead bug parts are toxic to our bodies and that's what causes our symptoms.
An effective treatment protocol means more bugs will be eliminated....and that increases our chances of herxing.
An effective detoxing protocol will help usher those toxins out, minimize herxing and make it easier for us to handle treatments.
I hope you'll review the "New to Lyme" thread that sits at the top of the forum. It contains lots of great information including detoxing suggestions.
The following site has quite the comprehensive list of detox suggestions:
www.tiredoflyme.com/detox-methods.htmlSlow and steady wins the treatment race so, if you're able to get an effective detox protocol going, you can minimize herxing and hopefully not have any herxing impact your ability to work.
Hope you continue to post with any questions or concerns you may have. We'll do our best to help.
Best of luck to you moving forward!
