I use my DSLR camera to record through the eyepiece. You could use cell phone camera to achieve the same thing.
I use an LED headlamp (bought for 10 dollars) to view, as the regular bulb was not strong enough.
I draw blood into vacutainers, however, you can achieve the same thing with fresh blood (you can use lancets that diabetics use to prick their fingers, these can be bought over the counter at wall-mart).
You place a small drop of blood onto a slide, put a slip cover over it, and start viewing.
I have found that the bacteria begins expressing itself the most between 2-6 hours after placing the blood on the slide (change in blood PH and temperature, they begin trying to survive).
If you have the money, it is a worthwhile investment. You can always resell the microscope. Even if you sell it at a loss, say for 275 dollars, and you lose 100, it is still worth it. It's cheaper than tests, it's cheaper than medication. And it gives you proof to work off of.
This is not my blood. This is the blood of a coworker who has been diagnosed with MS. I am doing this to help get his diagnosis changed to, and treated for, Neuroborreliosis, the neurological infection of Lyme.
