Lyme and MS?

I wondered if anyone would think it was worth seeing a neurologist to rule out stuff like MS. I read someone else in a group who believes they are two different things and treating for lyme with MS can cause huge problems and vice versa seems the treatments are boosting the immune system (lyme), vs suppressing it (MS)...but what if you had both? Thoughts? I have tested positive for lyme on igenex

A couple of months ago, I went to the emergency room because I was unable to say a single word for a couple of days in a row. My husband was with me and told the E.R. Dr. that I was positive for Lyme and seeing a LLMD since April.

They did a C.T. scan of my head and told me nothing is abnormal. The E.R. Dr. told me to schedule an appointment with a neurologist who would know the difference between M.S. and Lyme.

I told myself that I wasn't going to waste my time or money to see a neurologist. Well, after a couple of months and a couple more episodes of not being able to talk, I scheduled an appointment.

On the day of the appointment I was able to talk but stuttering a lot. The visit was suppose to be for a hour, but I think the neurologist only spent 20 minutes with me.

Her suggestion was to have an M.R.I. of my head and to do a spinal tap to see if the Lyme is in my central nervous system. Are you kidding me ?.... we told her that I tested positive for Lyme through IGENEX. So all she did is write in my file that I stutter. Sorry but that was a total waste of my time and money.

This is just my story, I personally think that it is up to you because it's your body and your life. I personally would have to agree with what Traveler said about M.S.- they don't know what causes it (hum...Lyme?) and they don't know how to cure it.

I was diagnosed with MS in 2010 by my neurologist after an MRI revealed numerous white matter lesions in my brain. I was not CDC positive with lyme because I only had two positive bands on the Western Blot and a positive Anaplasmosis. The neurologist insisted I did not have lyme and told me to come back to get on the daily Copaxone shots when my condition worsened. A LLMD then diagnosed me with lyme, bartonella, mycoplasma fermentans and anaplasma. I have been treating since 2012. The neurologist was very close-minded.
