It's not JUST borrelia, other bacterium, & virals, or even environmentals!!!

It'll try to tell my story as short as I can-Lol!!!

I was stressed upon hearing my Lyme literature ND was retiring. I've been seeing her since June of 2014. She referred me to two other ND's. I called one of them the other day to make appt cause of a severe symptom flare but was told New patient appts not available until FEBRUARY.... So I called my 'retiring ND' who has been transitioning her patients over to other docs @ another clinic, just in October. I asked for more Lyme tincture, but was told that since I've been off the Lyme tincture since end of Aug, that I need to see Dr.R one last time, and she'll have the 'new doc' sit in with us.

So, my 'new doc', my 'Old doc', & I went over my history of treatment, discussed current symptoms, and what not, and 'new doc' noticed that I hadn't been treated for any of Lyme co's in the parasitical group. We'd only addressed the borrellia, other bacterium, virals, & heavy metals!!!! My 'Old doc' only gave me Lyme tincture, and NAC to treat bacterium, which is what I'd insisted they put me back on...

My 'new doc' is treating me for babesia based on symptoms, & without even testing for it! She mentioned Dr. Horowitz's theory & his book, 'Why can't I get better'!

Anyhoo, my point in all of this is that PERHAPS Dr. Horowitz is spot on w/regards to why 'Lymies' who, after a year or so of treatment don't seem to be getting better; because....

It's a MULTPLE infectious state.

The only thing Horowitz doesn't address is are the gene mutations; which could likely play a major role in preventing effective treatments!!!

Well congratulations on finding another piece to your puzzle! I hope that it proves to be the key to your healing!

That what is making us sick is much more than "just" Lyme is something that I've been saying most of the time I've been on this forum - it's rarely only Lyme when you have been infected for any real amount of time. It's a shame that your "old" doctor didn't realize this, and you are very lucky that your new doc thinks about these things!!

We have even been seeing an increase in asymptomatic (no symptoms) infections with Babesia and Bartonella - and I wouldn't count out the other tick-borne infections being that was either! We are only just now seeing the "tip of the iceberg" with the research that is ongoing with these infections. Much, much more will be revealed as we go along. Always keep an open mind to how these infections can present and how they can change in order of bacterial loads and more. There is so very much more we have to learn! There's simply no way for one doctor to be able to know about all the possibilities that can happen with these infections at this point - one day, yes they will, but for now we have to rely on each other to get a better picture of the possibilities of what might be going on and preventing us from healing. Believe me, back in 2007, no one ever thought that these infections could be asymptomatic, that we would have gene mutations stopping us from detoxing well and much more.

Ha, no, you're not 'in trouble' for mentioning him like that. We make allowances for those doctors that have been on national tv - they aren't exactly "in hiding" at that point!! But we do prefer that Dr's names not be used in order to protect them, and it's easiest to "enforce" that policy if we just don't use any LLMD's names is all.

And, I used a Dr. that wasn't "Lyme Literate" to heal and healed very well, but it does put a LOT more work on the patient to know their stuff and to monitor not only their own treatment, but look out to be sure that their doc is covering all bases and understands the significance of detoxing and what to do for certain situations that may arise. Since most of us already have enough on our plate, it's just heavily suggested that people stick to using LLMD's that have been trained by ILADS is all.
