I never really knew how many drops of a tincture was considered equal to a 1/4 tsp.

I was eyeballing things on the measuring spoon as I counted in drops and thought a 1/4 tsp held 30-32 drops.

Well, the latest-greatest tincture to arrive at my house today came with a handy-dandy chart.

1/4 teaspoon = 1.25 ml = 25 drops

So, for those of you who weren't sure, now you know ;)

you know you could've easily looked this up on google ;o)

one thing i have noticed is depending on the dropper you can get different amounts. for example when i was taking A-BAB it comes in a 1oz bottle. 1oz is equivalent to 6tsp or 600 drops. i can tell you for a fact i've gotten more than 600 drops out of that bottle as i was doing 30 drops 2x/day which doing the math is 10 days of product but it lasted me almost a month. i can only chalk this up to each dropper is different in volume.

Very true, Rikky! I have 3 different size droppers in my house now that came with tinctures, and that's not counting the droppers that you can buy by themselves for giving meds! It's best to count your drops, then write it down - as we have a tendency to not remember stuff like that.

It wasn't a big enough deal for me to Google. I'd basically titrate up to 30 drops and then make the switch to 1/4 tsp (which, when filled using my eyeball approach, resulted in 30-32 drops lol)

Still, I'm happy to know the truth now and figured I'd share it because I've read many posts questioning it. Glad others found it helpful.

What a pain with the different-sized droppers!

Oh so good to know since I am at 20 drops. I hate counting and invariably I will get to 12 and someone in the house will ask me a question. LOL!

I don't think it's just the dropper that leads to different drop volumes. It's also related to the tincture itself. Some, like the Beyond Balance, seem to have a higher viscosity and/or surface energy than Byron White. Of course, I haven't measured to be sure; the drops just look bigger to me.

Also, be careful about what you use to measure them. Glass is best, as it is least reactive.
