Biaxin, rifampin. Is it ok to add minocycline?

Well, I'm on Mino and Rif - and was wondering if i could pulse biaxin with it.

Another forum member said I could...lol.

Yes, you can use minocycline and clarithromycin together and I did that for 2 full months daily. I haven't ever used mino, clarithromycin, and rifampin together, but I did use minocycline, azithromycin, and rifampin together and had no issues at all... I also took all 3 all together on a completely empty stomach. And I have had my liver tested.

Rifampin decreases blood serum concentrations of clarithromycin though as it is a CYP3A4 inducere (So it increases a type of liver enzyme involved in metabolism of a variety of different chemicals, drugs, or whatever passes through the liver), and because clarithromycin is a substrate of that enzyme it decreases the amount of that drug that circulates in your body. I know this first hand as well, as I simply do not get the clarithromycin aftertaste in my mouth anymore when using it with rifampin. But the combo is for sure working for my bartonella. (Clarithromycin & rifampin)

That would be a good combo in my opinion, especially if you have bartonella as well.

I would say yes you can take that combo, but yes it is a good idea to do so in conjunction with your doctor, and to keep an eye on your liver enzymes during treatment.

I took zith, doxy and rif together a long time go
So I suppose clarith, mino, and rif are OK together as well.

On it's funny that you mentioned the metalic aftertaste of clarithromycin Not being felt when using it with rifampin. I too have noticed that. I was taking the Clarithmyosin for about a month and it taste that metallic aftertaste. Now that I have added to respond when I no longer taste that metal aftertaste.
