Very low cd 57.Any chance of recovery?

Dear colleagues,

Just recently joined the forum, expect appointment with LLMD in january 2016.
I am feeling very ill in general(if you want I could list sympthoms but are many) and consequently i have very low cd57, as low as 15.Previously past year after a 9 month Abx. therapy and HBOT treatment I got into some kind of remission and at the end I had a cd 57 of 43, while I felt almost normal , except moderate twitching and numb areas on feet.

Question to everybody who had this test done, and recovered or got any better, with a low cd 57 or anybody who can chime in:is there any chance to recover from this state?

I understand that this test, I mean the cd57 cells are consumed by the ongoing infections in the body, very low meaning probably very heavy infective load?Can one get herself rid of it?

I would perhaps less concentrate on the testing level results, and more on your symptoms (testing, sadly, is fraught with problems). You state that you "felt almost normal except moderate twitching & numb areas." That is not normal & does seem to indicate that treatment needs to continue longer.

I know you are waiting for your January LLMD appt, & it probably seems so far away. But work on eating nutritious meals, & keeping a symptoms log for your appointment.

There have been many here on the forum who have been devastating sick who have had treatment & success. Hang in there :)

I concentrate a lot o results because I am an MD of obstetrics and gynecology and work based on evidence-based-medicine.Of course lyme is more ambiguous than that but, still I think a very low number is indicative of something.

What we don't know is what all comes into play in creating a low CD57. We do know that for some people with chronic Lyme, they can have a low CD57, but we really don't know what that means since some people with very minor symptoms can have a very low CD57, yet some with very debilitating symptoms can have near normal CD57 results.

So no one is sure just yet, what the CD57 actually represents as a whole. We only know part of the picture.

Can you still recover? Yes, you've shown that you can improve, so maybe you just didn't give yourself enough time in treatment. I was severely debilitated by my symptoms, and I have recovered. My LLMD didn't believe in tracking the CD57 as it wasn't well known back in 2007, so I'm not sure what my CD57 would have been, but I have healed - and many that have been severely impacted from these infections have healed and moved on.

Finis~Thank u for sharing some of your story. I understand re the low 57 & do see it cited with possible chronic conditions such as LD (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12088407), but as Trav mentions, a snapshot in time, perhaps not the whole picture.

The other thing to add, is that it may not be a quick fix if something has been in your body for awhile. Most of us are conditioned to grab a med, & it to be quick acting. That is one of the most difficult with this journey, re chronic/ in the body for awhile, it may take a bit longer to heal.

Ok. I have to admit for not having pacience. I am quite sick and very afraid of beeing în a situation where majbe because I wasn't healed the first time the infections got to a stage were they cannot be healed, I lost the battle. I was told that I reached remission and as Traveler and some other People put it, it was not reached.

Many who think they have patience run short on it when treating these infections, Finis! Don't feel bad!!

But even with your issues, healing is possible, although no one can say that you (or I, for that matter) won't relapse if too much stress is in your life, or you get sick or reinfected. But, one step at a time. Surely with appropriate treatments you will feel better!!

No-I was trying to ask if the body would tolerate this procedure ok, if someone had an underlying immune system unbalance. Does that make sense? I could email u, but I don't want to impose. It is a genuine question.

She had a very low CD57 as well (37,2). She is now doing fine, two years without any treatment (no abx, no herbs) just diet and exercise...

In case you have not done this already, you could take some time and read through her blog posts, there's a lot of info.

M thank you for the info, I read her blog but did not notice this. I started eating correctly and Noroc coffee and the pain diminished. I have to sick to the diet.
