Does Alka Seltzer Gold interfere with any abx or herbs?

Hmmm....Remember chemistry class? From a basic chemistry viewpoint, anything with soda dilutes other compounds, by absorbing and changing the state. Regular Alki has sodium bicarbonate in it (baking soda). Read the box ingredients for SB.

I bicarbonate it in the lab to neutralize acids. I'm guessing it might do something to ABX, like absorb it like calcium and magnessium can. I would not take it simultaneously with abx.

Thanks astroman. For an antibiotic that has a long half life I assume you don't have to worry about the drug losing its effectiveness since its already absorbed into the bloodstream after a few hours.

It all depends on what antibiotics you are taking, I would avoid taking doxy with alkaseltzer gold, but zithromax is ok. Like girlie said, it is easier to be safe and just take the alkaseltzer either 1 hr before or 2 hrs after the antibiotics.
