Thanks! It feels great. I know how lucky I am. My body knew...my mind, too! Life lesson for me to trust the inner knowing...validation via the test is reaffirming.
I have supportive providers...I see a NP (my PCP) who gave me an rx for doxy a few weeks ago based on my symptoms. She also gave me a list of LLMD's...told me her ability to treat me within the system is limited. At the same time, I've been working with an integrative/functional medicine MD/DO (self pay) who believes that it is most important to support my healing through diet, supplements, detox, and osteopathic manipulation. Things seem to be coming to a head since I began treatments with her. I like and trust her. I'm hoping that I can work my way through this with the support of these good women.
When I first started feeling sick, I went to a Center for Integrative Medicine that specialized in Lyme. I saw a naturopath there. I told her I thought I had Lyme...she didn't test me back then. She diagnosed me with adrenal fatigue. I spent a lot of money on supplements and tests/visits that didn't help. I feel burned by the "experts" after that experience.
I'm disillusioned with Western medicine and Big Pharma as well. I know immunity=gut health and I don't want to destroy my GI flora with abx if I can avoid them. I was sick a lot when I was a kid, and took many abx through the years...I've been trying to restore gut health ever since. The herbal route is the most attractive for me. I'm waiting for Buhner's books to arrive and I'll keep researching my options. Such good information here!
I thought they always did two tests before confirming Lyme diagnosis...? I found this article which mentions false positive in rheumatoid arthritis (which I've also been diagnosed with). Hmmmm. More will be revealed, I guess! http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJM199112263252615
