Immunosuppressants???

So my doctor looked over my Igenex labs and feels the antibody levels I have are from a previous Lyme/babesia infection (that I've never been treated for). The antibody levels are in the grey margin for 'active' infection and/or current infection. My neuro feels the reason I keep feeling so crappy is because the infection 'I once had' has messed up my immune system to where it doesn't know how to function. She has decided to put me on immunosuppressants - Celcept- and another one to see if we can kick down my immune system and reboot it essentially. I've been on the meds for 2.5 weeks and have started with my spine burning, rashes, intense headaches (again), fevers, swollen nodes, word loss, exhaustion and itchy burning skin! From everything I have seen or read I have heard taking immunosuppressant drugs could be terrible, I haven't even hit the marker where the meds are fully at a regular level in my system yet and seem to be goin into one of my full on flare ups. Has anyone else dealt with this? Bad idea? Good idea/rationale? I'm not wanting to wind up back in the hospital and bed ridden again if this comes back out in full force, but she believes this is the right path! There aren't any docs in my area that specialize in Lyme, most believe it doesn't exist actually where I live, so I have a very hard time explaining everything I have researched. Antibodies to Lyme/babesia/bartonella currently in my system at significant levels make me think this is so not the right path. Any ideas? Ughhhhh

Do a Dark Field Microscopy test, i think Fry Labs is doing it in the US.

If positive, go to your neuro with the video recording showing your blood as a Disneyland for spirochetes. If after this he will still say "you once had" the infection, then it is time to say thank you and leave his office for good, and find an LLMD....

Immunosuppressants have triggered my latent lyme in the first place, it made all my symyoms many times worse , lost 20 pounds in one month. So be careful... Im not saying never take steroids, but if the DFM shows an infection in your blood you really dont want to take them.

Wow, this is so wrong. I'm so sorry Katydidworth! Please email me so I can work with you to hopefully find you an LLMD that has had ILADS training. I'm sorry to say, your Neuro has no idea how to read those test results.

Immunosuppressants should never be used when there is even a possibility of an infection. It's the immune system that holds back the infection from spreading further through out your body.

Your increasing symptoms are proof of this. I would encourage you to either get your Neuro to help you slowly come off those meds, or find a doctor that will soon. And please, please find an ILADS trained doctor to treat you or treat on your own with herbs.
